@batichi Yeaaaah, I don't know. I definitely saw it as you did. We've SEEN how bad it gets when mix ups happen. Though someone making the point that this was said under a news article about Jewish people is a salient point...

That said, the guy deleted his toot (or was suspended?) because one second I see one of his toots and then I went to open it in its proper page, it's poofed. So uh.

Fine. You have evidence? I'll give you that then. But then why is it that half the time the evidence just shows a severe disagreement that goes sideways before it has a resolution to get to? (And no, dear readers, I don't mean disagreement about if Nazis are good, I mean "somebody read this wrong and they've refused to budge and consider if they read something wrong as a result.")

This is still one of my favorite pieces. I even sell/sold it as a postcard, though never really selling well...Which often surprises me, I would have thought it'd be a best seller. I think it's pretty cute even years later!

I use all of these, and the "Y'all" and "folks" listed thus far! I really like "y'all."

I think it all depends on what we bring to it--watching American media when growing up, "guys" and "dudes" has always seemed more inclusive to me, when having to deal with Spanish rules where even if there's three boys and six girls in a group, you're still supposed to use the masculine form :zerotwoshrug: Though in Puerto Rico, we do say "gente" which is pretty inclusive of everyone.

I'm also a 90s kid, so I live by the classic Kel rule: we're all DUDES! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI1Vc4SH6co (I can't find the All That version, this is from the Good Burger movie)

Having said all of the above, in semi-professional and professional circles, I would try to use "everyone" or "folks" instead.

Sorry question, but what #hastags do u guys follow?

Saw a post on Reddit on a user from the big server who was annoyed at having just the firehose as their home feed.

The problem, as I mentioned earlier, was that users aren't introduced to the concept of hashtags and following / muting them, so they don't interact with users from other servers and don't post with hashtags to get their posts into other people's home feed.

What topics do u guys follow? It's likely that these would be similar to anyone joining our local server, so I was thinking of Jerry rigging a 'follow some hashtags' popup for first time users.

@anianimalsmoe I tend to follow niche hashtags. For example, magical girls, linguistics. Then specific series like Tenchi Muyo.

Maybe this is mean but it's really weird seeing people come from other places and talk about their confusion on how to follow hashtags on here, when...you could do that easily on Twitter, for one. I used to follow a few on Twitter ages ago. Nowadays it doesn't work duh lol but it used to. And you had to click once or twice to get to the hashtag, unlike on Masto, where it appears in your home feed automatically.

-Fav Japanese Game: #LittleBusters, peak #MaedaJun
-I love good stories, and my preferred genre is #Fantasy, but sometimes #SciFi. My current fav author is #BrandonSanderson, and it's great that he churns out books so fast.
-I have a mom-daughter pair of cats. I post about them occasionally
-I really love animals in anime, if wasn't obvious enough. The world needs more cute, and I'm just cataloguing it.

I've been on Tumblr for almost, what, 12 years (?) and only broke 150 followers like two years ago. Hasn't exactly still moved since then. And I was actively posting for years before I scaled back a lot in like 2016 or 2018. Tumblr never really "worked" for me like it did for others...

Oh maaannn. This is the short story that I’d love to go back and redo it again with more page counts, but also the only one that currently makes me cringe. I had bought Manga Studio for the first time when I was drawing it for TOKYOPOP’s Rising Stars of Manga contest (before I knew better, yikes!) and well, it’s where you can tell I was still trying to figure out how to draw in the dang program 8| Look at those faces, yee…

The story’s a bit “oh” in that embarrassing way, since it’s about an interfaith couple in World War II Germany. Hah. Hahahahahaha. I’m a sucker for those kinds of stories but in hindsight, even with all the research I did, it still reads weird and possibly preachy. At least I didn’t glorify anything like most romances in this setting do. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ But yes, they met and got interested in each other because of books. They have the same tastes in common :) That’s partially why I’d like to come back to it; I’d like to build up on that a lot more.

I usually give all my OCs a background, and a possible comic book or novel form setting. Jessie, however, might be the only one I have where she doesn’t necessarily have a background and wasn’t created for a story. She was originally created for a contest on deviantART about the 80s! xD (I got 3rd place and was one of two contestants who created completely original characters.) But do I want to use her, because I have always, always loved her design!

:ai_wave: Detectives Saf Minga and Gouk Treye from "Ronda Onda" :ai_wave:

Recent characters given the last two’s mileage, but this is another one I love to make more short comics for. I fell hard in love with these two partners by the end of making this comic – to the point where I am certainly close to making Ronda Onda shorts, haha. (So redundancy much?)

It’s basically a detective story in the not-near-you future, where, in the case of the comic posted above, they’re investigating a robotic hybrid crime. Saf’s the more serious-minded of the two (as well as harboring a secret or two), but Gouk simply likes to tease his partner, lightening the mood most times. But they’re both dedicated in many ways, even with most of the police department making fun of Saf over silly details like surnames.

Gouk’s supposed to be eating a little snack XD Saf’s just mad he probably was eating it instead of being attentive or something.

For the people who would love to save copies of their posts, so they can post it elsewhere (or have a backup archive in addition to the one Mastodon gives you), I recommend using Mastodon Content Mover.

I have tested it and while its function is to repost all your posts from your old instance to your new one, it also tickles my archiving bone as you can also use it to save all your posts.

PLEASE READ THE "WHAT IT CAN'T DO" SECTION THOUGH. You, you kinda gotta.

The way it will work is that you have to right click on the folder you've named MastodonContentMover, copy/paste the instructions for the terminal that will pop up, and then let it save. By the end, you will have a folder for each post you did, marked with dates. As the site says, you can also save each posts with hashtags, check the public posting to private, etc.

Not only will it save your images that each post may have had, it will save your text posts in a xml format. You can easily open these with Notepad, Notepad++, VS Code, etc. The image attached is an example of one of my posts when you open the thing.

I have not unfortunately tested the posting part because that would be a lot of posts for me...but give it a try if you think it'll work for you :v

I digress :3540_Aqua_cry: Honestly, the only ways I've been able to do this easily (for me) is by using custom font catalogs. There aren't a lot for Windows (shocker, I know) but PrintMyFont and Fontbase are pretty useful.

Cons: takes a while to export anything if you, uh, have over 2GB of fonts :zerotwouhoh: ...(-whistles innocently-)

Pros: can create folders with specific fonts you want in them; auto-notes which one are Google fonts; example text is nice and big, can slide size

Cons: this one could be a "only NAAN has this issue" but you have to go into its folder in AppData and add all the fonts you have installed or else they won't pop up.

Other cons: some fonts will never appear in the program only, for reasons unknown to you despite being installed; can't customize example text; makes everything else lag a little if you're not careful

@batichi Hmmm...the first thing that came to mind is something like MyFonts.com search, where you can use filters to get a list and then write your example text and scroll down. Like in the picture below (zoomed in so I could have at least four examples lol, it looks a lot better on the actual site):
