Is there a way to stream the #StanleyCup playoffs to #Kodi?

#HNOM

mpjgregoire,
@mpjgregoire@cosocial.ca avatar

The answer appears to be no, at least not for the version of Kodi I'm running (Nexus). Sportsnet owns the rights for streaming the playoffs in Canada. There has been at times a Sportsnet plugin for Kodi, but I don't see it.

A subscription to Sportsnet would cost about $20/month, though apparently it's included in some cable packages.

I've considered buying an antenna for my #RPi. Such things exist, but only for DVB, as used in Europe.

@evan Vis pacem, para bellum.

In any case, the only election I expect in the next 12 months is for the school board.

Can anyone give me examples of Western media that manage to both avoid white savior narratives and tell a story in which the more-than-human world is valued as something actually more-than human?

@dynamic This is probably not the best answer, but since no one has proposed something better, let me suggest Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

Imagine, that happened three years, and I was unaware until now.

The fiscal plan had three targets or “guideposts”: keeping the deficit below $40 billion in 2023/24; lowering the debt-to-GDP ratio in the current fiscal year, compared to last fall’s financial statement; and keeping deficits below one per cent of GDP in 2026/27."

Some days, it pains me that we've built such a useful service, and so few people get to even give it a chance 😔

I've done everything I possibly could (incuding, more than halving the monthly subscription price), but product marketing is something I personally suck at.

So, I am begging you, the community, to help us out. If you know anyone who would benefit from our social media news and stories aggregator, share this post with them.

Thanks! 🙏

This is an interesting idea, probably useful to many people. You need to describe it better though. Maybe something like: "Murmel e-mails you links to the most important news stories of the day by checking what the people you follow on Mastodon are discussing." (That's probably still too long.)

This Grauniad story forgets Kim Campbell, Canadian prime minister for 132 days in 1993, between when Brian Mulroney resigned because the entire country hated him and the election where the party was reduced from 156 seats to two.

@wdenton I heard on that Ms. Sheinbaum is the first woman elected to lead a North American country — PM Campbell was chosen by her party but didn't win a mandate from the public. Possibly The Guardian heard such a claim, the muddled it.

Emigration from Canada to the U.S. hits a 10-year high as tens of thousands head south
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadians-moving-to-the-us-hits-10-year-high-1.7218479

Via https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2024/06/brain-drain-from-canada.html, where celebrates this as a brain-drain to the US.

As the comments point out, there's a real question about who's moving: is it young, ambitious workers, or older Canadians trading an expensive house in Toronto for a retirement in Florida? The article is essentially anecdotal.

Either way, we need to fix housing policy.

Once again, the one-sided of Mastodon means we're not exposed to other points of view. Here I see nothing but delight that Mr. Trump was convicted; on Twitter I also read people arguing that the prosecutor's case was bad law, that Mr. Trump's slimy behaviour wasn't felonious and people are right to be outraged by a politically-motivated prosecution.

(E.g., here's an argument from a lawyer who opposes Mr. Trump and his conviction: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-ridiculousness-of-the-trump-indictment-part-two-the-federal-felony-hook-problem/ )
