Dear Lazyweb, I have an NEC video projector and I can't get it to do DHCP, or become pingable with a static IP. Tried several cables; the switch gets a link light on all. Is there something weird about these that I'm missing? The setup menu seems straightforward.

@jwz crossover cable to laptop running wireshark then powercycle the device?
It might tell you more about what's going on.

No housing ain't the only thing, but it's the necessary first step.

I think if Mastodon is gonna grow significantly, and win back potential converts who rejected it before, it's gonna need a rebrand.

@misc Honestly I think we need to talk less about Mastodon. Frankly, I think Mastodon and many of the decisions made by Gargon have been bad for the Fedi at large. I'm glad to see some of the other software gaining mindshare.

In the end, Fediverse will be here for the long term, and I think it's going to be small communities connected to it that bring people here.
