Went to a St Patrick's Day party at a friend's place. Hell of a night! We just got home. Or rather, I just got Dave out of the car. We've been at home (sitting in the car) for half an hour.

Tomorrow, I'll tell him all about it - because there's no way he's going to remember.

lemongin,

Me, to Dave, as he wakes up: I have a story for you.
Dave, feeling broadly okay: Is it about a magical hero?
Tracy: No.

And shortly after declarations of "I feel fine," he's hunched over the toilet again.

lemongin,

Dave is too hungover to go to Denny's.

@mike
Yeah, looking at "alcohol poisoning symptoms," it should have been.

Everyone in this Mark's with us is looking for green shirts.

What's a good movie to watch with your Mom?

lemongin,

@RickiTarr
"Saving Grace" with Craig Ferguson. A widow resorts to growing pot to save her house. My mom is scandalized by lots of stuff, but she absolutely loved this movie.

Whenever I see "art" like this I always have to zoom in, and make sure it's AI, because the thought of an artist actually putting in effort for something like this gives me indigestion.

Where did Jesus find a camo robe?!

@RickiTarr
It is definitely knitted then.

@mike Is there any way for me to change my username? Or would I have to make an entirely new account?

lemongin,

@mike Ahh, that's what I thought. I will think on this. Thank you!

I don't know how I can trust a man that doesn't pick up a stud finder and immediately point it at himself.

What is your favorite breakfast? What is the actual breakfast you usually eat?

lemongin,

@RickiTarr My favourite breakfast is two fluffy waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream, and maybe a piece or two of bacon on the side.

My usual breakfast is two cigarettes and a room-temperature cappuccino.

lemongin,

@mike @RickiTarr

Bannock with saskatoon jam! And a tea. And two cigarettes.

How do you make your tea? And what kind of tea?

lemongin,

@RickiTarr I don't know why we don't have them more often!

(I just asked my husband why we don't have waffles more often. "We don't need more sugar," he said. 😢 )

lemongin,

@mike @RickiTarr

Lovely! My father-in-law told me that my style tea was perfect for taking out into the bush. It's usually a black tea and I let it steep for 35-40 minutes (or, more often than not, I think, I just leave the bags in). Then I just carve off a slice later on.

I commit crimes against tea.

Hit 100k km last night on the drive back from the airport! I've gone 52,000km since we got this car in July 2022. That's what happens when you live left of nowhere and ferry people around regularly.

It is December 28 and it's so warm here that people are having beer on a patio at this brewery. This is not right. My first year here, it was -37C on this day. You know, only 47 degrees difference.

lemongin,

@freemo Yeah, hard to say! We're worried about the total lack of snow. The area I live in has had some devastating forest fires over the last 10 years and we need as much snow as we can get. This coming summer might be brutal.

My MIL is entertaining us with stories of terrifying flights she's been on.

I am going to barf and we're a half hour from boarding.

lemongin,

Dave's brother-in-law is a chef. In a caffeine-induced haze, he insisted Dave buy this can of poutine gravy. We don't know why. But now we have to pack a can of gravy in our already-full suitcase.

THIS BETTER BE TASTY, CHRIS!

lemongin,

My SIL took this picture of Dave and I at the beach yesterday morning. It is a rare picture where I'm not making a goofy face.

lemongin,

The ferry is supposed to leave in 20 minutes and it isn't even here yet.

lemongin,

Four and a half hours until our flight. We are on the penultimate leg of the trip. This leg, waiting to go to the airport. Next leg, the flight.

We have to pick up the cat, then there's a two hour drive to drop Dave's mum off, and we're going to pick up the small dog from my parents', but I've done the drive so many times that just being in the car counts as home.

I figure we'll be home-home around 10:00 tonight. Really excited for my own bed.

lemongin,

Had the world's heaviest breakfast before heading to the airport. Chef Chris put together a breakfast of leftovers. Tourtière-fried rice with salad and a fried egg. It was delicious, but I don't think I'll have to eat until tomorrow!

lemongin,

My prediction was half an hour off. We got home at 9:30 instead of 10:00, but that's mostly because we didn't visit my parents for too long.

The flight home was better than the flight there. I made friends with a wee child who was sitting next to me. She kept trying to hold my hand or grab my sleeve and when we were getting ready to get off the plane, she held her hands up to me. Her dad said she wanted a hug. That little girl kept me way more calm on the flight than the Ativan.

lemongin,

There was a pilot sitting in the row in front, on his way north. I figured if he didn't seem bothered by the turbulence, I shouldn't be either. But that didn't help as much as I'd hoped.

The Ativan didn't help as much as I'd hoped either.

I guess the key is to travel next to a little kid that seems to like me.

lemongin,

The best part about getting home was picking up the pets.

We got the cat last night on our way from the airport. He didn't care, as long as we let him out of his carrier. (It was a long 2-hour drive home.)

We picked up the small dog from my parents' place last night. At first, she was all "oh, hey guys." Then she realised we were taking her home and lost her damn mind. She's so sweet.

This morning, we got the other two dogs from the kennel. The white dog refuses to leave my side.
