Any blind folks out there that have assembled a framework DIY without any sighted assistance? If so, how was the experience and have you considered writing a guide? If not, what were the things you needed sighted assistance for? Also, did the person that assisted have any tech background? If not, how hard was it for them?

Hilarious out of context thing I just read. "You put the animal in your back and carry it back to the school."

Looks like the garfield movie flopped. I am super super glad because Chris Pratt is a horrible voice actor and hopefully will never be cast in voicing anything ever again. The super mario movie was actually good but he utterly destroyed it, he could barely do a brooklyn accent for christ sake!

Dark Tower Junkies, anyone else think the men who capture Finn in the Stephen King shortstory of the same name are either can-toi or Taheen? Look at how they speak, the misspellings in the pamphlet Finn is given, their mention of saving the world in 17 which could somewhat match up with their delusions of grandeur in the later books, ETC.

jpellis2008,

I am looking for Dark tower references everywhere, there already was a 19 mentioned in the first story, of his new shortstory collection You Like it Darker, Two Talented Bastids. I'm sure there are more.

Wellp, perfect timing, Keychron, thanks for releasing keyboards on the day I decided I needed a new keyboard. Pretty fucking cheap too. Grabbed their new numpad one, the B6 Pro Ultra-Slim Wireless Keyboard. Am excited. It has everything I want in a keyboard, USBC, 2.4 ghz wireless and bluetooth. Boom! Job done.

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence Do you have a link to this one?

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence Wow I thought it was gonna be a lot more expensive. Will keep it in mind, I already have a logitech k380 and a full sized I Clever one.

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence The I Clever was like $15 but it's actually good! Bluetooth only but up to 3 devices, physical on/off switch, keys actually feel nice.

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence How many bluetooth devices can this connect to at once? It looks like 1 but I can't seem to find it.

jpellis2008,

@jaybird110127 @FluidEscence Yes it is, saw it in the manual, FN Plus 1, 2, 3 on the number row, hold down for a few seconds to pair, press quickly to switch devices.

For a few weeks, even months, I sometimes forget I am living in red state Missouri. When I remember, it hits pretty hard. This morning a non profit Christian organization is picking up a perfectly functioning refrigerator we are donating. I was going to do things in another part of the house when my wife asked if I can sit out in the living room than after a pause, they might be a bunch of black guys. I grudgingly kept my mouth shut.

well this sucks! I can't play shooter! I press enter on the exe file, and it just sits there looking at me like I am stupid. now how fair is that? @FluidEscence you need to fix this! my day is ruened if I can't play my game! just kidding. lol. it is version 0.70 I am having issues with if that matters. I played it earlier today, but now it won't load, and I can't reboot the computer, or I will disterb the boys shows on there tv's.

jpellis2008,

@JamminJerry @FluidEscence @nycki96 Wait what helpers? Maybe I'm playing the wrong game here? Mine has no safe zones, numbers only for weapons, for example number row 2 is the knife, S is for the shop etc.

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence @JamminJerry @nycki96 Change log says ver 0.70. The game won't run at the moment. Shooter.exe appears to do something than just goes back to file explorer.

jpellis2008,

@FluidEscence @JamminJerry @nycki96 Ok gotcha. I sort of remember that one, is it still around?

I just realized that the iPhone SE battery is smaller than the Jelly Star battery. Not by much, but it is. The Jelly Star battery is half the size of almost every Android phone battery, even the cheapest Samsung phones from several years ago. So when I say Apple could have tried a little harder, I can back that up with actual examples. Hopefully the next SE has a much larger battery, or Magsafe, or both. I hesitate to recommend them to anyone at this point because you basically can't function without a power bank. Meanwhile, the Jelly Star is turning out to be an amazing media device, especially now that I figured out how to make Foobar2000 for Android more accessible.

jpellis2008,

@simon What about reading say txt files with TTS with decent navigation? My eBooks are in that format because they take up practically no space and any program ever can load them.

jpellis2008,

@simon Can you only navigate by sentence with the next and previous buttons in the play/pause area?

jpellis2008,

@simon Thanks, I'll look around.

Not sure what part of the windows TTS system Native Instruments ties in to for komplete kontrol to speak but does anyone know if SAPI 5 voices can be used? I assume its just the newer voices, Mark, Dave and Zera?

jpellis2008,

@jackf723 Thanks, good to know. Too bad we couldn't use any of the ones @datajake1999 has archived. If I wanted to demo it on a stream, I'd really like something else besides those 3 crappy voices.

jpellis2008,

@datajake1999 @jackf723 Thanks a lot, these will definitely be helpful.

jpellis2008,

@datajake1999 @jackf723 Someone hacked together a SAPI 5 eloquence and it actually works for me. I have it installed but I lost the installer for it and don't remember for the life of me whaere I got it.

Just got an Email from someone at NLS on how to subscribe to a mailing list. It went a little something like this.
"To subscribe to the XXX list, send a message to
XX@xx.loc.gov
Put anything you like in the subject field, or leave it blank. In the message body, put
subscribe NLS-XX-PILOT
followed by a space, your first name, a space, and your last name. Be sure to send the message from the email address you want subscribed to the list.
Note that even though the list has “pilot” in its name, this program is no longer a pilot. It’s just that it would have been too complicated to change the list name and move the subscribers to a new list."
I assume they also want your family name, your favorite pets name and the street you grew up on. Oh and maybe a sacrifice to the braille gods.

So I keep hearing this hold music for local NLS library, various doctors offices etc recently. Its from the 80's or 90's, in the key of C minor and has a clap percussion sound on a delay with what sounds like a synth lead melody. I absolutely love it, just can't find it anywhere.

jpellis2008,

@jaybird110127 Yep that's the one, thanks.

jpellis2008, to random

So for a google/zoom metting on a pc, can I connect my Iphone SE 2020 and share the entire screen or just an app along with VoiceOver audio? I assume not. Can I do it on the phone itself if the meeting was on the phone?

jpellis2008,

@simon Hmm probably easier to just holed up the phone to the mic so they can at least hear VO.
