WORK on Britain’s first centre dedicated to the anti-apartheid movement is set to begin in London.
The site of the former headquarters of the ANC in Penton Street, Islington, will be restored to create the Anti-Apartheid Legacy Centre of Memory & Learning.
The building will host a permanent exhibition, along with being a centre for skills development and heritage-based activities.
‘Forward to Freedom’ is an exhibition telling the story of the British Anti-Apartheid Movement, which has been created by the Anti-Apartheid Movement Archives Committee.
It comprises of 22 A2 lightweight boards and is available for free loan. This would make for a great public exhibition here in Manchester!
The ‘History of Apartheid’ podcast series offers an introduction to the history of apartheid in South Africa through conversations with leading historians.
The podcast series is hosted by Ciara McCombe, a history and politics teacher in North West London. It has been produced for the Anti-Apartheid Legacy: Centre of Memory & Learning.
