I like writing #SciFi and #fantasy stories. I write for pleasure and probably never will get published.
I have simple tastes and write simple stories.
I like my garden, all animals (especially my dog), all plants, science, the ocean and Canada. I'm German but write mostly in English for practice.
TERFs, fascists, antisemites get blocked. Overgeneralizing boomer-bashers too.

  1. Do you have fans/people who enjoy your writing? Whatโ€™s your relationship to them?

When I wrote fanfic, a group of people enjoyed my writing. It was back on lj, some were 'friends' in the same fandom and we interacted frequently.
My microfic seems to be enjoyed by the other participants of the challenge. It is all about reciprocation though, no idea if anyone would read otherwise.
I'm too shy with the longer original fic to show it to anyone yet.

  1. Have you ever dreamed about characters in your work?

Yes, when I was very immersed in the story, as I used to be often in the past and wish I could be again. I even dream-wrote sometimes... nodded off while writing late at night and when I woke up there was an odd sentence or two I didn't remember writing (and which didn't make much sense).

Hi again, missed you all, in a way. In another way I enjoyed just floating around... but that has to end, gotta get back to writing.
I'm not up to continuing my fantasy story yet, but want to participate with a SF story on ice I started years ago. Learning more about the characters with the hashtags may help me getting back to it. Working title: Mars Mess. I won't answer every question but plan to answer most. So here we go... ๐Ÿ˜

About a month ago I kind of disappeared from this place. Some personal and family problems threw me out of the writing headspace and keep me busy. Patience is required of which I don't have much. Nothing dangerous though, don't worry. I'm slowly getting back into the writing, at least with microfic.
I think I'll be back in June with a different story, more gritty, fitting my mood. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Eventually I'll find the energy to interact here again.

Thanks for all your comments. Had a pulmonary clot, which is breaking up under medication. I'm in hospital while I still need oxygen to recover. I'll be fine once this is over, but a bit of a shock given how pleased I was with my weight loss and general fitness this year. Fortunately we have free health care in Australia.

Quinn: Trees
Vellia: Dragons
Lissa: Animals

And so on, I have way too many SCs by now. These aren't really obsessions, but strong interests that lead further. Except for Quinn. He can't be a dryad, much as he wanted to be one. Vellia has become a Drakefriend, not only in name; Lissa is an undergrad in veterinary medicine and prepares for her exams.

  1. What genre(s) would you be terrible at writing?

Wouldn't that imply that I'm good at any? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
I would never write anything that glorifies non-con, rape, and overly graphic violence and thus consider myself terrible at writing these--Oh, and comedy. I can't tell jokes, the timing is wrong and I never get the punchline right.
I'm open to almost everything, especially in flashfic. Whether I'm any good at it--is up to the readers.

Mostly my worldview and leanings, outrage, likes and dislikes. I share some of it with all my MCs. Also what I learned from my first career (lots of knowlege, little money), and my second career (stable money, little change).

As an #author I often assume knowledge that I should ask about. So, here's the ask: As an average person, if you saw a woman in an urban situation with a #wolf (it is a wolf but nobody is saying it is a wolf), would you assume it was a #dog?

Please boost for maximum sample size.

Feel free to comment if you have experience with telling the difference or studying #wolves.

@sfwrtr I would perhaps think that it is a wolf-dog hybrid. They were a thing several years ago. Depending on the owner's reaction to a smile, I would perhaps ask what breed it was.

Dictionary.com laid off all its lexicographers this month.

Presumably to replace them with AI. (My opinion.)

Sadly, thesaurus.com and dictionary.com are two of my most important resources when writing. I will look for alternatives now, because they basically decided to stop being a good service.

Enshittification is spreading at an ever increasing rate. It makes me sad. I thought we were headed towards a good future. Instead, it's turning... brown. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Expecting to earn a lot of money with their books and have instant fame. Does this even still happen?

  1. Is your MC spontaneous, or a planner?

Robin definitely is a planner, he thinks everything through before he acts--if he has enough time. He always doubts himself if he has to act quickly and spontaneously.
Stevie is a good planner but she often plans while she has already started doing something spontaneously. Like luring a group of bad guys away from a group of children with a reckless promise of treasure and frantically planning what to do now while leading them away.

  1. Do you keep a log of incidental characters (e.g. shop assistants) or forget them once they've featured?

If they have a name in the story, they get logged in my 'established character names' note in my Obsidian story bible, even the ones who only have a XN placeholder. Those who don't have a name will be forgotten, the poor sods.

Hi, dear #writingcommunity, I need help!
I'm currently translating a story set in 12th century. In the German version, I'm using the word "Herr" as address to higher-ups, when the right title is not used. This is done by people who are not well educated. "Herr" could be translated with "my lord" or "sir". I thought "my lord" was the better alternative, but I wonder - it feels weird e.g. for the bishop (Your Excellency). What do you think?

My MCs are all over the place in our world and the other one. There isn't one community that stands out. It's more families, groups of friends, peer groups like the Enkum Zi or the Cirque d'Argent and such that are important. If I interpret this question correctly...
