Something I'm happy to see: The Affinity suite apps are the first "mainstream" design apps which support Variable Color Fonts.

Was already waiting for this, as they went the Colr color font route instead of SVG, and variable font support was always on the horizon.

This will make sketching specimens quite a bit easier!

@dutchcelt @jtillessen @nicksherman It’s at the side of an actual pizzeria. If they freeze their own pizza (which I assume) you can definitely call them artisanal.
Europizza in Amsterdam Noord also sells their sour-dough pizzas frozen to-go. And I know people picking them up regularly.

Humans are bizarre

I’m still 😷 if air is bad in a train, it’s busy, or if people are coughing

There are 2 seats free here in this train to Paris - either next to me wearing a mask, or next to a guy opposite spluttering incessantly (who’s the reason I masked straight away)

Where does the passenger boarding at Joigny sit? Next to the spluttering guy, after having given me a weird look 🤷‍♂️

But indeed, I keep finding interesting parallels between Swiss-German and Dutch that have been eradicated in Hoch-Deutsch.

@jhilden There are indeed exactly theses parallels from German to Dutch. Words that sound old and from the past in one language, commonly used in another.
Siechenhaus (German for Infirmary, no longer used)
Ziekenhuis (Dutch for Hospital)

Or in my favorite example, the meaning is reversed.
Seltsam (German for Strange)
Zeldzaam (Dutch for Rare)
vs
Rar (German for Rare)
Raar (Dutch for Strange)

An old friend studies comparative language science. But specialized in eastern languages.
