This is a great book about Mastodon.

"Mastodon for dummies” by @chrisminnick @workingwriter

Like it says in the beginning, you don't need to read all of it - I skimmed the sections about starting an instance & tools. I would vote for @Ivory be included in the next edition 😁

I'm still confused how the character limit gets set for replies. Does it follow the original post? or is is set by the instance you are on, or the app/platform? Maybe it's all in my head.

Force quitting and restarting always fixes. And of course I can’t make it happen now.

@mattgemmell I really enjoyed reading TOLL! Took me a few years to get to it since reading CHANGER - but I'm glad I finally did. Your recent podcast talking about research about oil derricks got my curiosity going.

There's some great 5 ⭐️reviews on Amazon - which I attempted to echo, because the first one on the list was a pretty big spoiler! It's also weird how Amazon leaves up the 2⭐️ & 3⭐️ reviews but when you click on them - there's nothing there.

Thought I'd set Adaptivity up on one of my old computers running 10.15.7, looks like the App store thinks it should run there.

It immediately throws the dialog box: “Adaptivity quit unexpectedly”. I rebooted and then deleted the app and redownloaded it from the App store. Is there something else to try?

I guess I could just not use it there (it works great on my M1 iMac) but that seems like giving up 😆

macOS discovery: I was just try to type a bunch of <<<<'s

and I learned:

1. that ⌘< (CMD <) brings up System Settings for the active app! 😲

AND

2. ⌘ shift < Zooms in / ⌘ shift > zooms out in most Apple apps like TextEdit, Pages, Numbers, etc…

Hi @grammargirl I'm having one of those moments where something common looks weird to me, and that is the term “screen mirroring"

This link tells me that if I use Apple's “screen mirroring" from another room it isn't technically “mirroring" https://www.mersive.com/blog/thought-leadership/meaning-of-screen-mirroring-screen-casting-and-screen-sharing/ But I guess I do use the term screen sharing over MS Teams all the time.

But I'm wondering how the mirror got started anyway - After all it's not reversed like a mirror🤓
