I lived my childhood in a 400 year old converted barn, on a dyke in the middle of the Netherlands.

For whatever reason, I'm suddenly reminded of the Rijdende Winkel, the Moving Shop.

At least once or twice a week, this thing would trundle along the dyke and stop at various intervals where it could. Rather like a Library Bus. Fruit, vegetables, dry goods, etc. A corner shop or bodega on wheels.

(This was also the same size as our friend's chippy van)

Well, it has been exactly one year since joining the #Mastodon and the #Fediverse, and I'm glad I did.

It should go without saying that certainly don't doomscroll anymore, but rather get inspiration and hope.

I see so much more grassroots organisation, non-corporate posts, and genuine in-depth discussion without trolls.

I truly enjoy it.

@Tim_Eagon I have learned that copious amounts of Scottish swearing is a fine addition to CR and I want more of it.

And after going back to 2x50, it seems that both Aggy and Spurt lasted almost exactly 20 minutes both.

Having said that, I still want to consolidate my online presence into a singular place, so considering a with ActivityPub plugin, but I'm also open to other options. Preferably with a low learning-curve.

And there are so many options, I just don't want to spend forever and a day setting up. Any out off the shelf, out of the box self hosted options?

    @SavahRellcast How you feeling about the Mob Vote Rebellion?
    Keeps popping up on my TikToks, and a few other places.

    Personally, I can understand the frustration, as Mojang has been rather lacklustre in their development, and seems to be only bolstered by PR saturation.

    After all, HOW could you possibly choose between an Armadillo, crabs and penguins? Wouldn't you rather have all three?

    I mean hell, they didn't even need to continue developing it if they didn't want to, it's one of the very few games out there that still is actively developed for over a decade!

    @izabelamisiak For me, it's still got that late summer vibe. The evenings are still warm, but there's that orange haze and filter over everything.

    Things become less hectic as the summer holidays draw to a close, and it's cooled down enough that being outside is actually enjoyable.

    @izabelamisiak I think what we consider warm and cold lags behind the previous seasons. Like, right after summer, we'll still consider 15° warm, but if it's after winter, 15° will still be a tad chilly.

    We're fickle things, human beings.

    I am a very firm believer in the idea that if a company spends more than half of a job advert spouting about how great they are, all their 'benefits, and doesn't least the pay, then that is a company you do NOT want to work for.

    Especially if the job description itself is so vague it could be anything between janitor and Pope.

    @izabelamisiak Probably all the responsibilities and duties of the Pope, and all the pay of a zero-hour contract janitor.

    I did something like that once though. It was a nebulous job description, but a group interview for cold calling people selling them shoddy windows they don't need.
    Stood up and walked out in the middle of it. I got principles, and minimum wage is not enough for me to compromise them.

    @lashman So many people forget that pixel art relied on the lines from a CRT monitor or old TV to really make the images pop.

    The darkness seeped into the bedroom. Chloe froze, unable to move. It seemed to slowly fill the room, rising to the level of her bed. Only a matter of time before it flowed over the edge and-

    Think I'm gonna have to find some sort of online work.

    Too many years dealing with the public and shitty employers has left me burn out. Not to mention the fact that I don't drive which is a deal breaker apparently for many potential employers around these parts.

    Question is, what exactly? Writing, community management, social media, customer service, etc?

    Preferably without actually dealing with phone calls.

    I'll have to figure out and update my skillsets.

    There will be a short outage to the site between 21:00 and potentially up to 21:30 BST tomorrow. This is due to a restart being required on the physical host that runs out front end load balancer, which is how everyone is connecting to the site.
