@benetnasch @bookstodon Your second guess is closer. It’s a coming of age/kind of romance YA book. I’ve been feeling stuck because my “team” have all enjoyed the book and the cover. They’ve also spoken up when they didn’t like something. But now that the book is live I feel I’m hitting a roadblock and not getting the book into readers hands like my previous ones.

@negative12dollarbill @diazona @bookstodon Ouch, but likely well deserved feedback. Yes, this long pretentious phrase is the title to a YA book. I’ll definitely keep in mind to use contrast and non-stick fonts in future books. Thank you both

@elysegrasso @benetnasch @bookstodon I’m beginning to believe my original goal of being different with this cover hasn’t quite been a hit with the intended audience. I’m still proud of the book. Now I’ll try to keep these struggles in mind for future books. Thank you for the thoughtful response!

@noodlemaz @willaful @benetnasch @bookstodon No offense taken. If we take my current book out of the equation, there are tons of self published books that can go toe-to-toe with trad published books. The reader wouldn’t be able to tell in most cases. Mine just fell a bit short. Which is ok since I write as a hobby to get the stories out of my head

Hi folks. Sorry not been around. Work stuff and books. Got into the Wayward Pines trilogy by Blake Crouch and had to finish it. Great thriller series. Good balance of human interest, philosophy and hard Sci fi. And a page turner. Enjoyes it. Not reading Contact by Carl Sagan.

@CindySue @bookstodon I’m 44 and enjoy reading YA, especially contemporary stories. Not so much a fan of sci-fi or fantasy, which currently seem to be taking over the market.

Wifey had an old episode on of where Stabler goes undercover to buy a hooker. Right when a cash exchange is made his team comes in to arrest her. I think it would’ve been more entertaining if she was also undercover from a different department and tried to arrest him. That would be an entertaining to expand into a book: 2 undercover cops unknown to each other try to arrest each other. Know if any books like this? @bookstodon

I am going to set myself a goal for the end of the week and if I accomplish the task, I am going to buy myself a cross stitch kit. I have been wanting to cross stitch again (my mom taught me when I was young, but as I aged I found other things to spend my time doing). Thinking it might be fun to try a small kit again.

Lately I’m finding myself creating 1 or 2 great chapters in my outline for my next book. It’s those other chapters bringing everything together that I’m still working on. At the same time I’m also finding myself adding more details to the great chapters. I guess my overthinking is why it takes so long for me to release books. #writingcommunity #authorsofmastodon #author #amwriting @bookstodon

I'm a husband, dad, and #selfpublished #YA #author living in the #buffalo NY suburbs, and root for all my local #sports teams.
