WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY GODDAMN TOMATO SEEDS?
Anyway, of these... which ones are your favorite, or which would you like to try?
My favorites are the Sungold's and the Super Sweet 100s.
My goal is to make and sell things at farmers markets, and my little farm stand (that I didn't put up at all in 2023, whoops!).
Tomatoes are not all I grow... but I will never not be surprised at how many different types of tomatoes I have when I take my seed stock at years end.
Today's adventure will be making kimchi and figuring out what to do with my bok choy and shishito peppers.
I'm thinking of adding some of the Bok Choy to the kimchi... I've only got normal green cabbage, not Napa... so it's already bastardized-- not worried about that.
What should I do with the rest of the Bok Choy, though? My husband and I bought a bunch of heads, and since I forgot to cook him some to take to work this week, I have to figure out what to do with it. I don't particularly want to just stir fry it, but I suppose I could.
As for the shishitos... I'm not a big fan, myself... that's my husband. I gotta figure out something I can do that will hold til Friday at the very least.
FUCK. I also have a butternut squash and two acorn squash I need to figure out what to do with.
@sylkeweb Bok Choy is similar if not the same (I never remember) to Pak Choi, yes.
I thiiiiiink what I may end up doing is stir frying them with some baby corn and my homemade chili oil + some sesame oil. I'm not 100% sure yet.
Shishitos I'm thinking I may turn into like bratwurst with peppers and onions.
Squashes... I like them, its just been a long time since I've had either butternut or acorn... I'm thinking of finding something I want to do for thanksgiving and try a dry run to hone in a recipe. Not sure yet.
@ErrorCrater We didn't go to the bakery, just the grocery store and feed store. We have a bakery run by a formerly amish person nearby to our house. :)
The market is mostly dry goods... some fresh produce, and also the big ass 25lb or whatever bags of flour/sugar/potatoes.
We go once or twice a year just to stock up mostly on spices, flours, and dried pastas.
Tomorrow is Rosh Hashanah, and I am currently working on my menu and doing what prep I can tonight.
I generally don't do much with my religion, but the antisemitism lately has been so damn rampant, I've decided I'm just going to Jew harder.
Anyway, my current plans for food are pot roast, onion noodle kugel, apple and honey challah, and homemade apple cider.
Any good ideas what I can add to this? We have a decent pantry and I don't want to go shopping-- so just hit me with what you've got and I'll find something that works.
@mk30 Nope. Just the inherent guilt about not attending services on the high holy days that you may acquire (or have in the past) from Jewish family members.
Except I guess... maybe on Yom Kippur? At least until you throw your bread in the water.
@mk30 my parents were the same— I for the most part was too, with the exception of when my grandfather guilted me into being miserable in shul for… three weeks straight every year.
