It LOOKS like Snyder is just saying “parents don’t push your kids, whether that’s to be trans or cis, queer or straight, let them figure it out”.

Buuuuuut, that’s not what he has specifically said.

I used to be proud that the Civil War (US) didn’t end with people stood up in front of walls and mass graves, like a lot of civil wars have.

As time has gone by, I now am pretty much come to the conclusion that it should have; that we just kicked the can down the road. That the reprehensible culture of chattel slavery was just let off scott-free.

I’m not happy to have come to that, but…here we are.

we brought corporate social media thought processes here and pretty much self-destructed. and that mindset is why bluesky is getting props.

mastodon is killing the fedi. or at least not trying very hard not to. the more i am here the more i build up feelings about it.

@fyrfli yeah the whole worship thing bothers me a lot - reminds me of the old Pratchett line about the flaw in humans’ design is a tendency to bend at the knee.

Same issue I saw on another Twitter alternative. There were some old social media posts by the owner/admin and someone pointed them out saying (reasonably) “wtf”?

Then they were dog piled by hordes of…sycophants?

I’m pretty sure that, in my experience with HomePods, #Siri’s success rate has dropped below 50%

In #Apple’s defense:

  • they sell their products with razor thin profit margins
  • they’re a small startup with a handful of employees
  • they have very little capital to invest in improving Siri
  • it’s not like they introduced Siri over 12 years ago

@sezduck sometime in the last couple weeks, our HomePod mini has decided that when we ask for the temperature in the house using Siri it wants to give us a RANGE now.
EVERY other device in the house gives us the actual temperature at the thermostat. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, the #Harley got her 5000 mile service and a replacement rear tire that had a nail in it after only 2000-ish miles. That’s a little galling.
On the other hand, now shes ready to roll again.
I need to get replacement saddlebags, since the ones I bought back in 2016 have finally worn out.

Ruminations on mobile gaming, a 🧵

I spend some leisure time playing Star Trek Fleet Command from Scopely. It's a free-to-play mobile game that, in typical fashion, is heavily gated with pay-to-win mechanisms to let players advance.

As a minnow - someone who spends very little to play - I'm always flabbergasted when I talk to the whales, or those members of my alliance who think nothing of dropping hundreds of dollars at a time to gain a level or advance ship or building construction.

@taoish @bobberbrothers it absolutely is. A bunch of songs are on that playlist because they’re just BOPS (like “Smile”)
And embarrassingly large number of them are from Comic book movies, I realized one day when shuffle decided to play then one after the other.
There’s at least 3 songs from “Birds of Prey” because that movies got an awesome soundtrack.
