It's just properly funny at this point how toxic Reddit is. Also ironic, given that was commented on...Reddit. A place full of bots, adverts, it's gonna sell you out to AI and by posting all you're doing is helping them
If you give money to a #FOSS project #OpenSource, unless it was some special signed agreement, you don’t get to tell them how they use it. It’s now their money.
For some it’s a hobby, for some it is their job, but either way it’s their time and that does cost money. We all gotta eat and live and pay bills.
If you’re gonna get mad, don’t donate. If you want something specific: do it via a proper signed agreement where you’re basically contracting them. Otherwise, shhh.
The release of Ubuntu 24.10 later this year will mark the 20th anniversary of Ubuntu!
While we're still a few months away from the big day, we want to hear your ideas on how best to celebrate this awesome milestone.
So tell us.. what makes Ubuntu special to you? What kind of Ubuntu festivities should there be? How do we make the next 20 years even better?
Last year the @thunderbird team took ownership of the Thunderbird Flatpak. Today we're announcing that we're helping to maintain the Thunderbird Snap.
Why both formats? Simple: in the spirit of free software, we want to support as many of our users as possible without discriminating on their package preferences.
@killyourfm@thunderbird maybe talk to the Mint team who will be doing their own .deb, perhaps get them to jump in with the Flatpak rather than doing another package themselves?
You don't need to include art assets or music or any of that. A good few do just the code, so the original devs still get paid easily by people picking up the game for the assets.
Google News has been removed, fedup of it pinging my notifications for news from random countries across the world, with no option to hide specific sources at random.
Another #Linux opinion to get more sharp sticks pointed at me:
There’s far far too many distributions, often duplicating work, often doing really small overall changes. Big waste of time. And super frustrating from a support perspective for apps and games.
Oh you’re using TastyToastLinux? It does what differently that breaks games x and y?
