Netflix is being really smart by investing more in games.

The average indie-sized game costs 50-700k to make, meanwhile they allocate 100-200M for a film. I'm surprised they're not yet advertising games on the TV app, but I predict they'll be pleased with the overlap between audiences.

I'm very ready for story-led games to get more attention and resource. They're 4-6 hour long interactive films for a fraction of the cost.

Most important of all is creative control. Netflix has had some hits and misses but I feel the vast majority of the shows I've enjoyed haven't been through the meat grinder of focus groups and idiotic executives.

Let's hope the same is true for their games.

I realize this will be an unpopular opinion with some. Try not to take it personally, it's just one man's opinion.

Wes Andersons films are overrated. I think the closest I've come to enjoying his films is The Grand Budapest Hotel, maybe The Royal Tenenbaums but I didn't think either were great.

I just don't get what people are supposed to like about them. The stories are nonsense and they're not especially funny although I say that acknowledging that humour is subjective.

I mean, I dunno. Do we really want or need another Willy Wonka film when the first one was perfect from beginning to end?

On the other hand, it's directed by the guy who did Paddington, it has Chalamet, Coleman and a slew of other actors I really like.

So here is my currently installed games on #steam
I have other platforms but I don't often use them.

I would say that I mostly play #projectzomboid, #DayZ, #FootballManager and a little #Shadowofwar

I'm a little dry for games at the moment. I need something new but I'm extraordinarily picky.

Have any gaming suggestions?

@greenvahn Yeah, good suggestion. I have that game and have played it a little.

I think it's quite good. The voice work on that game is outstanding.

I could never get with the throw-away nature of the hero's. I know that is kind of the point but I didn't like it.

I love the dark tone too.

Yeah. I do know of it. In Project Zomboid (one of my favourite games) there is a CDDA setting.

I've not tried CDDA. I'm not normally held back by graphics and they have to be primitive for me not to want to play it.

But your suggestion is a good one. It's exactly the sort of thing I'd like.

For about 10–15 years, I've documented my favourite game of the year. When I started, I recorded my favourite game retrospectively. All the way back to 1984.

That was tricky because I have a poor memory so I had to look up all the games for that year to remind myself which I'd played. It was nice to be reminded of the great experiences I had with some games.

None is the best game I've ever played :P

Half-life is a game I've finished like 10-20+ times. I'm not exaggerating.

I loved Limbo but didn't like Inside at all. It just didn't seem to capture any of the horror of the original. I'll never forget that spider until the day I die.

Strider,
@Strider@mstdn.games avatar

@LadyMarth01 I'm not manly enough to play horror games usually. I didn't really go into Limbo with any expectations, so the spider sections scared the crap out of me.

It was such a wonderful little game. Peril at every step but instant rejoin back into the game, so death was a minor inconvenience. The soundscape and general ambience of the game were second to none and all this from a few guys in Denmark.

Another Steam sale where I haven't found anything new to play. Or, nothing I wanted to persist with.

I blame getting old.

@Marks Sony make 14-16 Billion from COD alone. Then how much do Activision make from it?
