@geraineon Based on your description, it sounds promising. After having read a Japanese manga series, Cherry Magic, I need to return to some more complex world-building. However, it was a nice palate-cleanser before diving into a new, literary world.

@geraineon You are right in that evaluation. I would not say, I’m easily triggered, but I can be put off if violence seems gratuitous or irrelevant to plot and character development. This warning tells me that there is a purpose and so I’m better prepared 😃

Recommending I Can Do It! (Now on the correct visibility setting)

I really enjoyed it this e-sports danmei novel (as you can probably see by how I finished 134 chapters, 11 extras in about five days ahaha)

Short summary of the novel

This is an e-sports story, with the romance happening between this streamer, Soft, who excels in flaming every single player in the League of Legends e-sports circuit (and every player he plays with) except for his idol, Road, with his idol, Road. Soft is an extremely talented player who basically spends all his time playing LoL, watching LoL and streaming for money. Due to circumstances, he joined Road's e-sports team as the new mid-laner (a position in LoL).

Thoughts

It's very fluffy, very sweet. The ML totally dotes on the MC, and does it so obviously too. The MC is basically a hissy cat who will claw and scratch everyone except ML (and ML's family...). Their poor manager has his hands full trying to manage this tea (him praying every night probably, "please, Soft, don't reply to trolls and don't flame back, please"). 10/10 would recommend if you are in the mood for fluff, comedy, sweet/healing, soft. Would probably not recommend if you do not game AND do not know league of legends at all. If you game but don't watch or play LoL, I think you'll be fine (lots of footnotes)

Some caveats

The KR-CN e-sports rivalry might get uncomfortable to read (some insults/comments are on accent, for example); also expect some of the usual beauty standards stuff in webnovels in description of how people look; main character is slightly less than 18 at the start of the novel (but the relationship doesn't start till he's 18)

Just finishing episode 5 of “Joy of Life” 🌸 The drama feels very different from more standard Cdramas. Difficult to pinpoint exactly why. Perhaps it is because it allows its characters to be flawed?

Wang Yang as the assassin with a backstory who turns into a helper has great charisma. Nice to see actors who are not extremely young, being given meaty roles to play.

@liztai I always wanted wavy hair as a teenager, but mine straight, Asian hair that is slippy and never does what I want 😄 I have been wearing it in a chignon for years, tamed with lots of hair pins.

Just beginning to watch season 1 of “Joy of Life” 🌸 It is still laying the foundations of the drama but there is already a sense of foreboding. Zhang Ruoyun has a very charismatic presence - slightly goofy but clever.

Ting Meishi has a brooding, underplayed aspect that complements Zhang Ruoyun’s more mercurial character.

@AnnaAnthro That sounds promising! I actually watched The Next Generation as a teenager… It was broadcast at 8 pm on Sundays. My best memory was that my parents came home from the supermarket … with a tiny puppy that they had picked up from boys who were selling them for a few dollars outside of Shoprite. Tiny was my best friend as a teenager!

We called this puppy Tiny Tammy Fleabag + our surname 😄 She was female and small, hence Tiny and Tammy because she was a female version of Tiny Tim in Dickens’ “Oliver Twist”. Fleabag was self-evident because they were hopping around on her head when we got her…

She was such a character and my best companion in a difficult time!

The characters are beginning to coalesce into patterns now but I’m still not sure where it’s all heading. I’m enjoying the acting, though…

It will take some time before I make it to season 2 so it might have finished airing by the time I get to it…

My plan to watch list is useless to me, because even I don’t follow it 😄 I put dramas on that list and then don’t consult it 🙄 I choose a drama , according to my mood and listen to what other people are saying. There’s no system!

Just finished “Will Love in Spring” 🌸 It was a beautifully realistic depiction of two traumatized people, trying to make a long-distance relationship work. The female lead was immature and selfish, though, and had to do some growing up before they could have a future together.
