Okay so my take on firefish vs Sharkey:

Firefish is good if you want a fairly vanilla misskey fork, however Sharkey has a lot more functionality and feels IMHO a bit more polished, the OOBE and welcome flow felt a lot better UX wise.

I like #Sharkey being on #GitHub, since that likely means no account creation needed just to track a single project, but pretty intrigued by #Forgejo's Federation capabilities? "Federation" was noted on Forgejo's website, but didn't really find much talk of it though in its docs (no Federation specific topics at least from what I could find). Creating an issue from a reply/thread on the #Fediverse would be super neat though.

Should we switch from Github to a selfhosted Forgejo Instance,? we would also plan to enable federation as soon as Forgejo gets it in a usable state so u can comment on issues for example with your Fediverse account

Sharkey Release Notes 2023.11.2

• fixed sidebars in classicui scrolling
• mentions are now being grouped thanks to @freeplay for the css
• fixed some locales and added more Italian translations
• disconnect Popup has been disabled by default
• note imports now create folders for media
• a seach widget has been added
• fixed a bug that caused the like button to use instance like when set to the "heart emoji"
• post imports for mastodon and twitter now also import replies to your own posts
• automatic reload was removed due to being unneeded and causing issues
