I created a new migration tool for Reddit users moving to Lemmy! (github.com)

This tool lets you migrate your own posts from any subreddit to any Lemmy community you want, I made it because I couldn’t find anything else that did it the way I wanted to. I’m super happy how it turned out, I managed to get 9 years worth of posts over this way…...

How does it choose what communities to post to, to match each subreddit?

It’s possible she was cared for by a genuine good samaritan, illegal though that may be. It’s technically still kidnapping, even if someone underage wants the help to get away from their family.

Legally, if you take in a runaway, and don’t make an effort to get them back to their legal gueardian, I think there’s still a case for it to become abduction in court.

Legally, a child doesn’t have the ability to choose to leave their legal guardian (except through legal child protection channels).

They can’t just move in with a stranger. When does taking care of a runaway, become hiding them? Morally, there can be good reason to keep them from their family, but the law won’t necessarily recognize that in cases like this, where CPS wasn’t properly involved.

Lemmy converts all uploads to webp.

Also the reason people don’t like it is because gallery apps and the like are behind the times, so you can’t just, open webps, sometimes.

DRM for the web.

Basically, if your browser modifies a web page in any way (such as by blocking ads, applying a theme, disabling javascript, whatever), the server would be able to detect this and deny access.

No. The only way “around it” is to give up and use Chrome.

Everything else will have to dance to Google’s tune to access any website that implements this, and that will at very least include Google’s own websites.

There’s not enough users yet for every community to have daily activity.

And not everyone who might like a given community, has found it yet.

The solution to both is to recommend lemmy to friends and to post stuff yourself.

While I don’t know what exactly is going wrong, it’s near certain it’s not because of windows.

Not mentioned above, but an oft requested feature I implemented is also in this update.

You will now be able to tap-slide with one finger to zoom images.

The sidebar also enables blocking users.

Most rodents have continuously growing teeth. Like fingernails. In the wild, they constantly gnaw on stuff to sharpen and wear down those teeth.

As pets, if they are fed only soft food, and aren’t given something tough to gnaw on, the teeth won’t wear, and will just keep growing until the animal can no longer close their mouths.

This can be addressed by a visit to the vet, who will grind down the teeth, but you can only get to this point by seriusly neglecting your pet.

The idea that drinking bleach has health benefits has been around for a while. There are facebook and youtube “influencers” that peddle this shit in the usual “big pharma doesn’t want you to know this” format.

Internet Comment Etiquette made video making fun of them.

It definitely is. That was the deal you made to use gmail, that’s been the case since the start. The user agreement is very up front about that.

What I mean is, is that where gmail is concerned, that trade is still one I’m willing to make. It provides enough for me to agree to hand over the snapshot of me that is my email traffic.

With chrome, not so much. Chrome does very little to provide me with some kind of value other browsers dont, and yet it asks for everything I do online. Not just the account confirmation messages I use my email to receive. Gmail can see if I have pornhub account. Chrome can log every webpage I’ve ever opened. There’s a difference.

Email is central for all online activity, and google is really good at it, and provides it for “free”, at a rate that’s “competitive”.

A lot of googles other services, very much aren’t.
