Tremors is a wonderful slice of monster movie Perfection. (Nevada) A tight balance of comedy and horror.

But I'm a Cheerleader is one strange movie, but it's certainly charming and it actually ends with a gay couple that doesn't split up. Imagine that.

Reservoir Dogs is a good movie that would be better if Tarantino had someone else write the dialog.

Airplane! is possibly the funniest movie ever. I'm serious. And don't call me Shirley.

@howrandom Distinctive for sure. All of his characters sound like Quentin Tarantino. He could have dubbed over everyone himself without any major difference in the result. That's not really what I want from dialog, but I can't fault others for being fine with it.

@howrandom I still enjoyed Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction has a few good moments, but didn't care for the overall movie. Haven't seen Jackie Brown.

Messing around with the PWM Malevolent, an analog semi-modular #synthesizer. The filter on this thing can get nasty in the best of ways.

Recording's nothing special, just a simple arpeggio while I twiddled with knobs to see what I could get out of it.

Recording path: PWM Malevolent > Meris Polymoon > Meris Mercury 7 > HX Stomp (no effects, just for recording input)

@slanderoid Pandemic is a classic at this point. And there's a ton of directions to go with it, too: Expansions, standalone spinoffs/variants, the Legacy games. I can't claim to have a complete collection, but I have a good chunk of them, and every one has been worth it so far!

Some recent plays:

A new couple started showing up at my FLGS. Introduced them to Ticket to Ride: Europe last Thursday. Brought along the trains from The Little Plastic Train Company, which are always a hit.

Last Saturday, we played . I think it might have been a bit much for them, but they got the hang of it by the end.

Yesterday, Architects of the West Kingdom hit the table. First time at 5, and it's still great, even with that many people!

Midway through a four player game of Spirit Island. Four island boards are connected together into a diamond shape. Wooden discs representing the spirits' presence, wooden huts representing the natives, and plastic people, towns, and cities representing the invaders are spread out across the board.
End game state for Architects of the West Kingdom. Wooden meeples occupy various locations of a medieval town where different actions can be taken. Two rows of cards line the near corner, showing various artisans that each give a buff to an action on the board. The far corner has five neat rows of meeples occupying the guild hall where players can build buildings or contribute to the cathedral.

@slanderoid Ticket to Ride is a classic for sure! I'm partial to Europe and Nordic Countries, although I've yet to play one I've disliked.

@Scribs It's the Folded Space insert for the base game and Jagged Earth. Much cheaper and lighter than wooden inserts. Would definitely recommend their products.

Spirit Island is my favorite game! Looking forward to getting Feather and Flame soon.

@Scribs I imagine I'll have to buy a third insert from Folded Space and lug around a third box to hold the complete set.

Still annoyed that I can buy the cardboard spirit boards for the Horizons of Spirit Island spirits, but to get the cards I had to buy Horizons regardless. Yet I'll still probably buy the cardboard boards, anyway. 😆

A wood box would definitely be cool! A friend of mine has one for Pandemic, and it's pretty awesome.

@coffeentacos To be clear, it's actually two inserts: one in the case game box to hold the base game and Branch & Claw, then another in Jagged Earth to hold Jagged Earth and Promos 1 & 2/Feather and Flame.

That said, I quite like it! Easy to set up, just need glue. Definitely speeds up setup and cleanup. I had to reapply glue recently in some spots due to wear, but that's not too surprising given how often I play and how much stuff is jammed in these boxes.

@coffeentacos On the one hand, I want an all-in-one solution, especially with the inevitable third box needed soon. On the other hand, that's going to be one hefty container that also wouldn't necessarily have the room to fit future content. No real winning here.

Unless there's a way to pack it all in Jagged Earth by removing the risers on the trays... Guess we'll just have to wait and see

Clue is a classic. Tim Curry is fantastic, especially in the manic summary near the end.

The alien in The Thing may be a perfect imitation, but the 2011 movie isn't. It's mostly a copy of the Carpenter classic, but worse. Creature design is cool; shame about the CGI.

North by Northwest is a fun romp, even if the protagonist is a little too crafty for an ad exec.

Cavill's great in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; nice editing, forgettable movie.

@TomSchmidt It was a case of it just happening to be on when I switched to the cable box. I didn't seek it out to watch, but I can't say I regret watching it. It's fun enough. But I also don't think I'll plan on rewatching it at any point.
