Just read that this mastodon instance, Econtwitter.net, is closing at the end of September, unless someone wishes to take it over. Anyone have recommendations for where to go?

Kmac,

@randahl thanks!

Kmac,

@SRLevine honestly I don’t know! Would just like to stay on mastodon and follow the same folk / keep same followers.

Mozilla Foundation research details how moder, internet-connected cars are a "privacy nightmare" because of the data collected by trackers, cameras, microphones, and sensors.

"All 25 car brands we researched earned our *Privacy Not Included warning label -- making cars the official worst category of products for privacy that we have ever reviewed."

'Highlights' include Nissan collecting data on your, uh, sexual activity.

Kmac,

@kentindell @dannyjpalmer Thanks Ken, that makes sense.

Indonesia has to be one of the most interesting countries in terms of energy landscape, finance, industrial policy, trade, environment - and of course, climate transition and impacts. https://www.reuters.com/business/sustainable-business/indonesian-president-pledges-nickel-mining-clean-up-amid-ev-led-boom-2023-03-30/

Kmac,

Efforts to move further up the value chain after banning unprocessed nickel exports, next is EV facilities, better processing/refining. “China has done with HPAL in Indonesia what they did with nickel pig iron in China 20 years ago." https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2023-03-29/nickel-revolution-has-indonesia-chasing-battery-riches-tinged-with-risk

“We have it upside down at the moment: Debt to GDP is constrained, and CO2 emissions are not. Fiscal policy, the whole financial and monetary system, should always follow our societal goals—that’s what it’s there for. And for some reason, we’ve managed to flip this around.”

Now THAT is how we should be thinking about it.

Kmac,

@Brendanjones @AfterClimate Thankyou! I'm getting back into mastodon just now.
