More work done on the improved destruction model. Some of the modules can be volatile upon destruction. In this case, missile bays. Higher-tier hulls like this one usually have additional armor layers protecting vulnerable modules from AP ammunition.

Armor penetration is now a thing, and AP/APHE projectiles can exist. A new module system is in place, module shapes and their hitzones are decoupled from hull parts.

This is tool I've made some time ago to help me create buildings for Precursor.

It uses an easy-to-extend library of hand-made blocks that carry information like material ID, normal map, and AO.

These blocks can be placed either individually or as groups, allowing simple randomization.

Similarly, there is a library of easy-to-make, customizable materials.

Material IDs for individual block groups can be selected directly within the scene by alt+clicking a specific pixel. Drag-and-drop material replacement, scene materials, and reference materials are all supported.

There is also a robust attachment system, allowing you to add lights or define walkable areas or rooms for little humans. These later become part of a destructible system, which is generated by another module of this tool.

@fr0zi @dbat Close enough! Dx 11, for tools / dev gui I am using Dear Imgui.

I hooked up the precipitation system to weather data, so here is another "timelapse".

Note: The building on the left with a completely collapsed front wall was an accident unrelated to a large spaceship.

I've integrated time flow manager and connected some other things. So here is little ~24h time lapse (only general simulation is sped up) while in zone view.

Now, full disclosure: The game isn't designed for players to spend prolonged, continuous time in a zone, while the timescale in there is 1:1 with the real world. Hence, I am aware that the light direction in a zone doesn't change, nor do advanced atmospheric conditions like fog.

Fun trippy bug. Due to great many reasons (beginning with precision, ending with own sanity) basically everything has to operate in local space of Earth.

Which means I need to simulate everything in solar system space (stylized-scaled, but relative angles, planetary tilt included, are authentic) and then transform it into Earth's local space before I do anything.

I've used wrong transformation for starfield, which did result in following video.

Third Graviton Ability - Rift. Consumes Overcharge, creates two explosions in the target area per Overcharge "token", dealing low damage but high Graviton Saturation. Instant activation time and short duration make it an ideal setup for other abilities.

Second Graviton Ability - Surge. Consumes all Distortion levels in the target area, dealing damage per level. Additionally, it consumes Suppression field debuff, crushing affected targets against the ground. Targets immune to mass manipulation are dealt additional damage.

Tomorrow-ish (maybe Saturday), we will take a look at the third one. Either Rift or Collapse.

First Graviton ability - Suppression field. Consumes two distortion levels from all affected vehicles in the target area. Suppresses the effect of gravity and heavily disorients the crew, slowing the fire rate and reload times.

Next one, Surge, tomorrow.

Time to take a look at the second Core type. Graviton cores generate Graviton saturation on targets through primary weapons. Enough saturation causes Distortion levels. Up to four can be accumulated on a single target (five with an advanced core).

In follow-up days, I am going to post examples of some abilities that turn Distortion levels into destruction.

Lately, I have been working on Discovery system, Notification system, and related widgets.

The discovery system is a way to organically help players keep track of things to investigate as well as provide feedback for exploration efforts. It keeps track of generic, easy to track things, as well as it can run functions of fairly arbitrary complexity to monitor various events.
