Built for someone who never half-asses anything 💪

As Mojo Nixon said, "beer ain't drinkin".

Everyone has a different palate. You might just be more sensitive to bitterness than others. Have a white claw or whatever you'd rather drink, don't worry about what other people prefer.

The mainstream view has lost a lot of that spirit, but plenty of Americans go just as hard as the French. Our corporate media downplays or slants the perception of protestors to make them seem like a noisy misguided minority when all we're usually asking for is basic dignity.

Then the news media goes off and makes any anti-protest vehicular homicide a celebrity, and right wing nuts flock to their go fund me pages.

It's not that we're as bad as we look, mostly.

The store bought tortillas can't compare to fresh made, whether flour or corn. I know everyone always says this, but now that I know they're right I'm willing to sound insufferable about it on the internet.

It feels like a lot of effort the first batch, but it gets easier and you can prep the dough balls ahead of time (even frozen) so that dinner gets on rails pretty quick. Also, I had to mix in some all purpose flour to get the cohesion where I wanted it. Definitely watch a video before you jump in, it's got some subtleties to it.

So... Those weren't bot comments?

Unrelatedly, I can't believe there's no alcohol in the house.

Little better than pirates. They had to know monetary policy would change following the last several years of upsets.

Addressing the Exponential Growth of Communities

Over the past few days, I've witnessed a remarkable surge in the number of communities on browse.feddit.de. What started with 2k communities quickly grew to 4k, and now it has reached an astonishing 8k. While this exponential growth signifies a thriving platform, it also brings forth challenges such as increased fragmentation...

Whatever y'all decide, please just remember what McLuhan said: "The medium is the message." What's the message implicit in your decision? Be deliberate.

I like the overall trend towards ownership and non-centralized tools implicit in web3. If everything happening on the internet is owned by wall street, then it's not going to act like the real internet.

If there's a crypto aspect that has uses beyond grift, I'm open to it. There are certain ways it could be used to disintermediate owners and creators. I'm not sure if that's happening yet. Ownership rights with digital content do leave a lot to be desired.

I hope we soon see the end of the "gold rush" era in crypto and start seeing actual cool stuff being done with it. Especially since legacy banking will simply co-opt it sooner or later.

That’s where my head is at. They’re building and improving it. Legacy banking isn’t exactly green itself, as card transactions have a pretty hefty carbon footprint. Further, banks are eyeballing their own “CBDCs”, which is basically cryptocurrency but without the intended benefits of decentralization.

Zero knowledge roll-ups have a lot of green promise with gas fees… but DeFi isn’t better than legacy banking yet. Still, I think it will be sooner or later if only because some of those folks are actually trying to improve it (where banks are only really doing their best work at trying to get more exploitative).

Crazy to hear people talking about this stuff out in the wild. Feels like I'm on superstonk, only place I tend to hear anyone connecting these dots.

The Canadian GameStop folks have a community on lemmy.ca, but we are still very few.

I would like to join a federated wsb community too, if there's anyone with any integrity willing to run it impartially. Anyone running such a place has a conflict of interest imo, the tendency is moral hazard. At least with single stock communities you know their motive.
