First time in many years that I've shaved my face, and I didn't even draw blood!
Those of you who know me or have seen pictures know I've had a 1--3mm beard'ish for a long time.
I'm having my throat slit† open in surgery tomorrow morning for a complete removal of the thyroid gland so I thought I'd spare a nurse some trouble and take a stab at cleaning away the hair.
No thoughts and prayers please. I'll report back here if and/or when I survive
I feel this quote by iXsystems sums up the state of #FreeBSD quite well. It keeps getting sidelined due to its many pain points. Even Oxide went with Illumos because they felt the community was more responsive to change.

@herrbischoff was it a community issue? I assumed, they went with it, because SmartOS was already based on that and that's where they were coming from.

Can someone unbully mikael@ back into maintaining the signal-desktop port and then maybe unblock the electron ports from the repos so people can have a nicer #FreeBSD desktop experience? "You have to figure out and then wait about a day until VSCode and/or Signal are compiled" is a tough sell, isn't it?
When we were younger, the idea of "having access to all the music" was amazing. But now there's too much music. I feel like streaming services actually stunt your interest in music because there's too much to choose from, so you let the algorithm guess what you may like and it can sometimes work but often not. And then you get stuck in a rut of the same old playlists and start to lose your connection with your collection, because you no longer have a collection to care about.
@feld generally yes. But I still meet people that show me new music even though we have the same access to everything. I also still show people stuff I found. Maybe the music genres are now broader and not all of my peers is into death metal only anymore.

We have seen the same with Github and Slack wrt Iran.
In this case though, I wouldn't be sure if Russia would block access themselves sooner or later. They are blocking access to VPNs (or anything that smells like it) since a few days.
#rsync'ing a ~10GB #poudriere package directory /usr/local/poudriere/data/packages/foo elsewhere gets me a ~130GB target directory? What am I missing? #ZFS compression is turned on for both and compressratio is not really great, so that's not it. Using rsync -a, so nothing really special #FreeBSD
