Sometimes I think about a time there was a cis person on twitter who had had the wrong gender assigned at birth, in that the doctor accidentally put the wrong details down and it wasn’t picked up on, and their parent/s never got around to fixing it.

So as an adult looking to update it they were going through all these struggles to explain how/why they needed their birth certificate changed, but no they were not trans, it was a mistake etc.

I’m impressed by how much this sucks. Like you don’t even get to rent a pod in a futuristic tower in thd middle of a city like Deux Ex . You have to rent a pod in a former Airbnb in the suburbs.

No there’s only three. While mandatory service is foundational in Israel, they don’t want refusniks because of the political image of them, so if you’re actively refusing to serve and are adamant they will often try to convince you to get out of service under religious or mental health grounds. Because they can ignore those people getting out of it. These three are actively choosing to refuse in a way that makes it political and therefore they get punished in turn.

Like a quiet medical exemption in Vietnam, versus Muhammed Ali openly refusing the draft.

I assume there would be at least several dozen if not couple hundred weirdos refusing for reasons of all sorts. doesn’t israel have stubborn weirdos?

They do definitely. But my understanding is that if you get to the step of going to prison for being a Refusnik they have given you so many off-ramps where you don’t have to do your service but avoid prison. Like “are you sure you want to go to prison, just get a note from your doctor your tummy hurts/note from your Rabbi you’re too religious to go” etc

To go to jail you have to actively refuse these steps, which is what makes these three both so rare and brave.

The bad news, is that it is probably prostate cancer, given that’s the organ his recent procedure was on, and that prostate cancer is very treatable these days. So, he’s probably not going to die (from this at least, he doesn’t look well in general).

The good news is that prostate cancer is almost always treated with some kind of testosterone blocker, which is funny given TERF island.

I know that Thomas Sankara went after “anarcho-syndicalists” but I think that’s because they were attached to French labor unions, or something like that.

That was a joke he made to school children where he rated anarcho-syndicalists as being a threat to the revolution after “owls with shifty looks”. Watch the full video for context. He said all the normal enemies (imperialists, compradors etc) but then things like lazy teachers, disobedient students, distrustful Guinea fowl. He’s riffing by that point.

Burkina Faso had unions that were branches of French national unions. Who were not anarcho-syndicalists but reactionary against his reforms, because they had a relatively privileged position compared to other Burkinabes. He was baffled when European socialists criticised him for suppressing them and made that and other comments.

There was a green text I remember about some cis guy at university where a social club was giving out slices of pizza to women for International Women’s day. The guy goes up and says that he identifies as a woman, but his pronouns are he/him. The person looks confused but gives them a slice of pizza. And the conclusion is mocking etc.

But its like the person took them in good faith, like they probably guessed they were being bullshitted but a slice of pizza is a small price to pay in case you’ve misunderstood the situation and this is someone either very early into transition (closeted boy-moder) or late into transition (he/him trans butch lesbian).
