I’m looking for World of Darkness books, the backup of the trove on reddit is missing a lot of the books so I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can find something more complete?
I also only read English for a long time instead of my own language.
I picked up some books in my native language and was pleasantly surprised.
The language in itself doesn’t matter but I could notice the writer was from my culture. There’re slight cultural references in books written by people from my culture.
In books from American writers theres also these cultural references which I understand because I grew up on the internet but still it’s not my culture.
I would recommend to check if you’re country/culture has some literature award prizes and check out some of the top books. Make sure to try a couple as a well reviewed book might not mean it’s a good fit for you.
Due to pop culture (movies, shows, games, etc.) I learned English. I also picked up two other languages due to school and influences from vacations.
So I’m fluent in three languages (Dutch, German and English) and can speak enough French to manage on vacations.
I read most of my books in English because I like to read books in their original language. I read a lot of hard scifi, this is a pretty specific genre and there’s little books in Dutch hard scifi books.
In Dutch I read general novels with no specific genre.
For me drugs, in moderation, do enhance life. A beautiful mushroom trip opening my mind to be able to see new patterns. Losing my sense of self in a ketamine trip was also a profound experience in realizing a lot of how we think is a construct and not inherently “real”.
The world, for me, is not so black and white.
That’s why I was playing with the thought of having a drink again. Now that the holidays are over the urge has lessened and I can continue my life of not drinking.
I moved from Lemmy.ml because I liked the name of Lemmy.world and it ran a newer Lemmy version which meant I could make communities. I moved from Lemmy.world because they defederated from piracy communities they didn’t even host (but for some reason still kept the small piracy community they DID host) From thelemmy.club...
Thanks for the information. This is putting me off on Lemmy a bit, feels like I got to keep up with the latest instance drama to ensure I have a good experience.
Guess that’s the trade of with a decentralized system for now.
Thanks for answering. That seems like a logical explanation. After having thought about this some more I’ve decided not to prebook my train ticket as it’s going to cause sone stress as I don’t know exactly how long customs and getting my bags is going to take. There’s too many variables to accurately determine the time of departure from Shinagawa. It seems that the Hikari Shinkansen on the Tokaido line is going pretty regularly.
I’ll look up digital Suica card, seems to me it could come in handy.
Edit: The digital Suica card can only be added if the region for the phone is set too Japan.

Is it a negative thing that I exclusively read books in English rather than in my native language?
I primarily engage with fiction, particularly fantasy literature, and occasionally delve into non-fiction.

For me, crepes ain’t worth the stress to make fresh. Just buy a little pack from store and focus on filling is my go to.
