@ArchaeoIain "PeriodO is a public domain gazetteer of scholarly definitions of historical, art-historical, and archaeological periods." That's what the webside says. Basically it collects chronologies with literature refrences. This helps when different scholars have different opinions how long a period last and what it is called. When you want to mention a specific period, you can link it to the PeriodO reference so that everyone knows which definition you follow with the label of this period.
