It has always sucked. From the beginning it was privacy-invasive, had no real business model, has had crappy Electron apps and has been proprietary.

Use uBlock Origin, it allows you to block these popups.

It doesn’t accept or deny the popup, it just hides it. Technically if you don’t answer the cookie banner it needs to be treated as if you denied it. But you can just block all third-party cookies in Firefox and you’ll be fine.

It’s just hardened Android, but it still uses the Android kernel, Bionic C Library, etc. They have a custom memory allocator which was based on a port from OpenBSD though.

What about Alpine or Void?

You can’t. You can’t follow Mastodon users either.

The Redlib frontend still works. In my opinion it also provides a much nicer UI than the official Reddit website or even old.reddit.com. This is the list of public instances: github.com/redlib-org/…/instances.md

Get off that shitty instance and join lemm.ee, sh.itjust.works or lemmy.dbzer0.com

Where did you download it? I couldn’t find it on GitHub Releases.

True, the Linux app (both the old and the new one) sucks to the point, where I gave up and just put my Linux PC behind a network-wide VPN (which is set up using a Wireguard profile)

I agree

I have a custom x86 Router/Firewall running the BSD-based OPNSense Firewall OS. Setting up Proton VPN is pretty simple, they even have a guide: protonvpn.com/…/protonvpn-opnsense-wireguard/

I’ll put it on a spare SSD on my PC tomorrow. By any chance, is it possible to install Void on an Apple Silicon MacBook? I’m really annoyed by Fedora Asahi and I’m looking for a better distro to put on it.

Apple Silicon is ARMv8. It needs a custom kernel with custom drivers though. Would it be possible to repackage the Asahi kernel and other packages from their Fedora COPR repo using xbps-src? I’ll definitely try this out at some point because it looks interesting. For now I’ll try Void on my x86 machine though.

Ok that’s weird. Might be Wayland related, I only tried it on Xorg.
