An old fashioned idea with multiple uses - flower petals and leaves for crafts or drying, as the structure itself can be used as a 360d trellis; a source of fertilizer for your compost to help grow ingredients for your beauty products; and of course eggs, if you like eggs. I understand some people also eat doves, but I can't say as I find gutting a bird appealing, so I'll skip that one.

To follow up on the last post, a bit of graphic editing was involved in these. The biggest edit was the two women, since in ancient persian art there's not really any such thing as lesbians. And it was hard to find examples of younger men, not creepy old men - and I couldn't find any with women in a lovers type of setting. So I had to take the closest one I could find & improvise...

The back of the shadow boxes is about 5" tall, so background of faint men is gone, too.

The edited version has transformed the man into a woman with long black hair, and her companion, while still looking downward, now has a smile on her face. At least she doesn't look now like he's saying her dog just died. So that's an improvement, lol.

I've been working on some graphics for new shadow box manifesting sets, in the theme of love, of course, since valentines day is approaching. Here's what I have so far...

These graphics will be printed on paperboard and glued into the shadow box, similar to the Fortune test design. These will also come with a plaster LOVERS tarot.

Update - We got stain grade wood panels at Lowes finally for the new cabinet's doors, and I got some backsplash panels in a tin design.

The tin style panels I painstakingly put dozens of holes into for air flow, rather like an old style pie safe, so the laundry basket in there won't get moldy.

We do have one problem - my son heard a loud CRACK in the night, and it turned out one of the wood panels split. Not sure how to fix that.

Closeup of the tin panel door at the bottom of the linen cabinet. Here you can see the holes I made for air flow, following the circular design on the backsplash panels. We used a staple gun to attach the backsplash panels to the wood door frame we made. I used some packing tape to hold the panels together while the adhesive dried. It took two panels to make this door, as they only come in 18x24 size and the opening was 24x30.

Closeup of the split, which appears to be the boundary of two laminated pieces of wood that make up the panels. These were expensive panels, and I'm guessing the different in temperature and / or humidity between our house and the Lowes warehouse caused the split. I have no idea how to fix it. We may try sistering in a small strip on the back and using wood putty to fill the crack. I don't particularly want to have to buy a new panel and make another door.

Been working on some home improvement projects the last couple of weeks... My son Reuben and I built these, and hubby helped too.

Going today to get nice wood for the main doors. I will wait to paint and decorate until we can open windows. The paint smell bothers my allergies a bit.

I really want to find some louvered doors to fit the bottom large cabinet, for laundry.

We also installed those neat pull out racks in most of the kitchen cabinets (two more to go). What a pain that was!

This is a larger cabinet for our various kitchen appliances and bulk staples. It's deeper than the linen closet, but will otherwise look similar. I will paint it white and do some flowering vines on the doors. Off to the right you can see the sad little store bought cabinet that was in the hallway, and how much more storage space we'll have now! Like the linen cabinet, this one will also pull away from the wall, but its position is such that I wouldn't expect to have to do that, since it's not obstructing the two doors it's between.
Part one of the cabinet pull out racks, lol. We didn't use the u-shaped framing that came with it, one, to avoid having to remove the existing shelf in the back of the cabinets, and two, because over engineering is my thing, and I wanted absolute sturdiness. So we installed wood bracers instead. I'll paint them eventually.

So I need to work on a marketing plan/ I don't really have any idea how to do that. I'm sure it involves techy stuff like automated posts which I have absolutely no idea how to do.

What I'd love is an app that lets you create a single series of posts that it will cycle through & then start over again at the top.

Ideally, you can add or remove stuff from the cycle any time, and it will just post the next thing on the list at some set time(s) each day.

Anybody know of one that will do that?

Another thing I'm slowly working on is a journal for recording your meditations or studies on the weekly Torah portions.

I do free-form poetry, usually. Not sure poetry is my strong point, but I'm trying.

This is a poem about being dragged kicking & screaming into something you have no choice about and think is going to be just totally awful.

Maybe we shouldn't be so fast to judge.

You can always bail later.

I got this wood cutout as an "extra" freebie in an order from Woodpecker Crafts. I set it aside, and realized only later that I was supposed to make a haunted house and enter a contest with it to win art supplies. Oh, well. Read those flyers, class.

Anyway, I'm not much of a haunted house gal, so my decoupage creation went a different direction. Who is a princess in a castle in Judaism? The Bride.

Here she is, surrounded with beauty, the tamed warrior king at her feet.

I think I missed yesterday. Wasn't feeling great.

For this experiment I found some cool wooden practice swords online in a total fluke, and they were way on sale. So I bought ten of them. These are the first two. They're no longer suitable for practicing, obviously, so now they're just for show (or for ritual).

I'd love to find something similar just a tiny bit smaller. Maybe 12 or 14 inches instead of 22. They're really just a bit too long. My opinion, of course. YMMV.

Back outdoors today, just in time for the snow to start flying, lol - only for a couple of days, though, then back to the 50s again. As climate collapse proceeds, and electric grids fail in the heat and the coming overloads, outdoor spaces are going to be more important than they've been in a while, at least for Americans. Porches are back, baby, and nice patios, too, just like the old days.

This is the other end of the fence, photo taken last winter. The regaining wall ends at about the edge of the neighbor's house, as the ground between the two properties is level-ish and we didn't get mud from there. So for the rest of the length of our house, we just put in a regular privacy fence. The posts are in concrete foundations. I haven't done any decorating on this end because I'm hoping this summer to start working on an outdoor kitchen here in front of the back kitchen door (opposite the fence and out of view). I'm thinking I'll need a covering of some sort, not cloth, so like a carport roof or some such in this area to protect the outdoor kitchen. Not sure yet how that's going to work. I'll think about it next spring.

This is custom tilework designed & installed by me & my son Reuben. We have a back porch & I wanted to make it a relaxing place to look out over our garden, listen to music, or read a book.

This was the 1st experiment w/ the Tree of Life mold I made using a clay positive from half the failed 3D etsy mold. (The other half was made into a stele with the spiral universe side on it.) These are poured plaster.

I like the archaeological feel of the stele molds. You can imagine finding them buried or covered with vines in a secluded area, unseen for thousands of years, lol.

These are the 4 seasons, personified as Maiden, Mother, Queen, and Crone.

This is my first test run of a shadow box idea. I envision it as a sort of manifesting or meditation mini-altar where you can put small items representing what you want to pray for - health, love, livelihood, or whatever.

These prefab boxes come in several sizes, but I'm sticking to ones that an 8.5x11 piece of paper cardstock will fit.

I think they might work well with the plaster tarot card molds, so I will need six designs to start with, one for each mold.

Top & side decoration on the shadow box. It consists of a gold vine, green leaves, and pink buds on a brown background. Since I'm starting with using the tarot card mold set as the initial accessories for these, I will need to design one for the wheel of fortune, the sun, the moon, the star, the world, and the lovers.
