Flowering day 42 (end of week 6).
First two photos are from the Congo. Growth of the flowers has stopped. Now ripening begins.

The third photo shows the Grinspoon, which now is clearly lagging behind. But it is becoming denser.

#Israel is going to pay for the atrocities and cruelties it brings to the Palestinians. Some day. Not today and not tomorrow. But it will pay.

But this will not be done by revenge. Revenge only leads to more suffering of those, who already suffer the most.

The hatred needs to be stopped. The call for revenge because of dead children.

This conflict will not stop as long as the bodies of dead children get dragged around for photos. And people share and spread those.

Israel will pay some day.

Uploaded a preview of "pw-videomix" with a new render backend.

Amazing new possibilities!

Complex chains of mixers and mandala filter lead to marvelous animations. Even loopbacks between two mixers don't break anything. (Maybe keep an eye on GPU temps.)

Still more like a prototype, but the framework seems pretty solid.

Menu allows for a little bit more customization now.

It may be a good idea to split my next software project from my personal page, where I express thoughts, people may not like or understand differently from what I intended.

In 2022, I thought about joining @fosstodon, but I did not want to write english only.

Is #fosstodon a place for open source software projects, too?
Or is it more for developers behind projects?

I would use it as a place to document decision making processes and ask for opinions. Matrix is not very good for this, I think.

Upgraded to #KDE6.

Some widgets do not work anymore (thermal monitor & an older weather widget). That was expected.

Some settings were reset.
Took me a while until I figured out, that I had 'Breeze dark' for all design styles but the colors in 'Breeze classic'.
I deactivated shadows again but need to find some more animations.
Fixed a thin line around windows by changing the Breeze window decorations.

I expected much more hiccups.

My video mixer got a huge overhaul. I ripped everything apart until nothing worked anymore.

Then I started to build the picture loading again, but this time in a custom #Vulkan pipeline. A separate window shows this content, but now in a render callback.

Today I got my mandala filter node working, writing the result to a frame buffer. Now I can combine multiple filter in a chain!

It seems to be pretty performant.

Will upload it within the next few days hopefully.

If you want to learn a new (programming) #language or start a new #project, THIS is the perfect time of the year.

In February is the best moment to begin, what defines huge parts of the work, you are personally interested in, for this year.

The New Year resolutions are ignored and forgotten. But that is not the problem of Februaries prospects!

Enough time until summer to have a working prototype or know the basics of a topic. Then it's time to enjoy the weather.

In the last few weeks, I started to NOT write comments to other peoples posts anymore (with varying strictness).

It was not #Twitter, it is not #Mastodon. Social media in general is not working for me.

People take everything personally and stop reading after the first paragraph. I am fed up with those stupid fucks.

"No, I want to keep my faulty knowledge! How dare you, destroying my lies! It takes so much energy to conserve them, I don't want to lose them!"

Gerade fällt mir auf, was ich an dem ganzen Gemeckere über den Ticketverkauf und die Coronaschutzmaßnahmen für den #37c3 nicht gut finde.

Es erinnert mich an Gil Ofarim mit seinem geheuchelten Unterdrückungsgefühl.

Aber entscheidend ist doch, was wir aus der damaligen Situation gelernt hatten:

1. Dem Opfer erst einmal glauben.
2. Den mutmaß. Täter trotzdem nicht vorverurteilen.

Das heißt?
Weiter an besseren Methoden für den Ticketverkauf arbeiten.
Die Diskussion um Schutzmaßnahmen fortführen.

Ob er versteht, dass damit die Landesverfassungen ungültig werden? Er als Ministerpräsident sein Land sozusagen auflösen muss, bevor es eine übergeordnete Verfassung geben kann. Und wir dann keine BUNDESrepublik mehr sind aus 16 BundesLÄNDERN.

Added #MIDI inputs.

A right-click on the label(!) of a value opens a context menu to bind a MIDI channel to this variable.

At the moment, only a couple of variables of mandala nodes are ready (e.g. fold, size, speed). But the rest will follow soon.

There are different modes for absolute knobs and for rotary encoders.

Try it out and give feedback, if you own any MIDI device with knobs.

pw-videomix v0.2.1 is out!

After complex filter chains for endless combinations in last version:

Now with a color rotator node like changing hue constantly. Using a trigonometric function allows to select upper and lower borders for some nice effects.

Also the fader (stacker) is finally there to create slideshows of connected nodes with blending.

What a fantastic talk! Really helpful and interesting, although I follow the progress of the project quite closely.

The red line is, what Russia allows to calculate for an "endless war".
The green curve is, what keeps Russia from achieving this.

My take: The counteroffensive is effectively working as expected.

You know, what is different?

IRA terrorists chose the ceasefire. Dropping down the weapons to be part of the political process.

Hamas terrorists chose the war.

Politics is a balancing of interest.
War is putting your own interest over the demand of other people, trying to take all for yourself.

#Vulkano, a "Safe wrapper for the #Vulkan graphics API" in #Rust released version 0.34 two days ago.

When I started using it, 0.33 was previously released. But there were changes with layouts from pipelines. And the version on crates.io was somehow out of sync with the examples and the git repository. There was stuff, I just couldn't get to work.

I am so happy now to hopefully be able to replace all the workarounds.

Pretty sure this is a European hornet (Vespa crabro).

At this time of the year, it should be a queen, searching for food for the larvae.

I caught her, after being trapped in my room for a couple of minutes. She couldn't find a way out and always wanted to leave through the ceiling. When she sat down for a couple of seconds, I cautiously trapped her inside a glass.

Photo is not good, because I wanted to hurry up to release her outside.

Die Fehler der Anderen wiederholen. Im Mix der Beliebigkeit sich dem Durchschnitt anbiedern. Und damit den Status Quo verteidigen, was Rückschritt bedeutet.

Wie die Politiker plötzlich bemerken, dass die Stimmung im Lande etwas aggressiv geworden ist, jetzt da sie selber betroffen sind.

Leider können wir weder sinnvolle Lösungen außer höheren Strafen erwarten. Noch darauf hoffen, dass auch wir die Bevölkerung besser geschützt werden.

Und erst recht nicht, dass sich strukturell etwas ändert, um den Menschen mehr Freiraum zu geben, damit alles etwas entspannter wird.
