I don’t really wear my 6244 often but today was kind of the right day. Lots of walking around in touristy places so I wanted something small, lightweight. Pretty much unnoticeable and inconspicuous.

I have been alternating between these 2 lately. Still wearing the #GrandSeiko more obviously but having something very lightweight is a nice change of pace. #watches #watchesofmastodon

After a whole week of wearing only the SBGJ201 I thought it was time for a change. I went back to the trusty Datejust as I need all the good luck I can today 🙏

Caught the reflection of the sky on the markers and hands of the SBGJ201 and thought it looked nice 😁

Having a Spring Drive one and a Quartz one in my collection already, it is only natural that my 3rd #GrandSeiko would be a Hi-beats automatic. When I saw the radial snowy dial, the 44GS case and the blue GMT hand, I knew that the SBGJ201 aka “Mt Iwate” was the one. It’s not the first watch that can handle timezones in my collection but definitely the first regular GMT. #watches #watchesofmastodon

I have been wearing the SBGJ201 non-stop in the last 5 days. A few things I have noticed:

  • I have yet to wind it again. Rotor seems very efficient despite my low daily activity.
  • it’s definitely the heaviest and the thickest case out of the 3 GS I own. Stainless steel and GMT complication are likely the reasons.
  • Mt Iwate is probably my favorite dial out of the 3 . I still like the Snowflake’s though and nothing is quite like Spring Drive and titanium.

My 3rd is secured. I had been looking for one for weeks and stumbled upon an opportunity to get one that meets literally everything I wanted. l will post about it later but if you know that I already own a Spring Drive one and a Quartz one, you can guess where this is going 😉

With how sunny it is right now, it is not too hard to get a lum shot of my Seiko SNK809. Field watches are so easy to read 👌

I went out to look at watches, and I saw some beautiful Tissot PRXs. They are pretty but far from perfect. Especially the quartz ones seem hit and miss (miss really) when it comes to hitting the markers.

Then I saw some Citizen Tsuyosas in various colours, which are also very beautiful! I was impressed.

Then I saw the Grand Seiko range next to Rolex and Omega and GOOD GOD! How can humans manufacture something as perfect as a Grand Seiko. 🤯

Now that the weather is getting sunny again here, I can show a little something about my Datejust. People tend to think that the cream Buckley dial is just a flat colored dial and they are not wrong. Most of the time it does look uniform. But as soon as you put it in the sunlight, you’ll notice that it has some texture/graininess in the way it reflects strong light. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of that.

Wrist shot in strong sunny lighting conditions. The dial shows some graininess due to how the dial reflects the light.
