A pretty large 15.5 inch by 8.5 inch (39 cm x 21.5 cm) spalted maple holiday bowl. Each snowflake is different. Solid green wood stain and boiled linseed oil and natural shellac finish.
Finished with chalk paint and wax on the outside, shellac and boiled linseed oil on the inIside, this oak bowl with a rim of sycamore and walnut really pissed me off when it flew off the lathe while I was finishing the bottom and it had to be redone.
I'm starting to use some of the walnut blanks I got a few weeks back. This one is almost 14 inches in diameter and has a rim of segmented walnut with inlays of cherry. It's finished with a friction polish of boiled linseed oil and natural shellac.
