I couldn't resist checking out the NEC APCIII a little bit. It's got what looks like a multi-serial card and a HDD (maybe 10 whole megabytes). Some of these ran System III UNIX. Maybe this was a multi user system? Also in a miraculous twist of fate, the CMOS battery hasn't leaked! #nec#retrocomputers#pc98
Another garage find. This is an NEC APCIII. It's the US version of the pc9801. It runs MS-DOS but it has a different BIOS and a high resolution CGA adjacent display. So most DOS software is unlikely to work. Why do I have it? I don't know. I think I picked it up because it was weird and in the days before retro was cool, it was really cheap. Hopefully I'll have some time to tear it down and clean it up next weekend.
There is a retro PC seller at the St-Michel Flea Market, that is moving out of Montreal in a few months!
They are looking to sell off all of their inventory before moving, I wrote a short blog post on some of the interesting items I saw at their stand. There could be a chance they do shipping but I can't speak for them.
The introduction to 3x3Eyes for the NEC #PC98 is absolute proof that while I was convinced we grew up with the best animated #pixelart in our 90s #adventuregames in the west, i was absolutely wrong.

In this episode of PC-98 Paradise, I review the very first game based on the anime license "Slayers", which was never translated to English
