Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds said additional funds would allow the allies to buy over 3,000 rounds of 155 mm shells.

The event will be centered around Ukraine's 10-point peace formula, a plan first outlined by President Volodymyr Zelensky in fall 2022 that calls for a complete withdrawal of Russian troops from occupied Ukrainian lands.

"The main goal is to do everything possible to ensure that as many of these drones as possible are also delivered to Ukraine," Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds said.

The speaker of the Latvian parliament, Daiga Mieriņa, made her first visit to Ukraine on Jan. 16, the Ukrainian parliament's press service announced on Facebook.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics announced on Jan. 11 a new military aid package for Ukraine, including howitzers, drones, munitions, and more. He said this during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier pledged that Ukraine will produce 1 million drones in 2024, recognizing the importance of this weaponry on Ukrainian battlefields.

Latvia has already sent 271 cars to Ukraine that were confiscated for drunk driving.

The ambassadors of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in Warsaw have delivered a démarche against the Polish authorities over the hauliers’ blockade of Ukrainian border crossings, saying it is undermining Ukraine’s ability to resist the full-scale Russian invasion.

The Latvian parliament approved the extension of assistance for Ukrainian refugees, such as housing and food, until the end of 2024, the national broadcaster LSM reported on Nov. 23.

Latvia will send Ukraine an additional 20 vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers, local media reported on Oct. 31 citing the Latvian Ministry of Finance.

During a meeting between Latvia's Minister of Internal Affairs Rihards Kozlovskis and his Ukrainian counterpart, Ihor Klymenko, Kozlovskis confirmed that the Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs will transfer 12 drones to the State Police of Ukraine free of charge, media outlet Delfi reported on Oct. 30.
