Some parts of #AI domain start #privacy nightmares.

Some parts of AI like #GenAi are often based on stolen copyrighted, #opensource and #FLOSS projects, and personal materials.

Big Tech companies can provide hazardous softwares, helping creating #deepfakes.

#Microsoft with #Copilot and #Recall, #OpenAI with #ChatGPT are these ones.
Their softwares are a danger for privacy, copyrights and users.

Get rid of that shit!
Get rid of all this AI-bullshitted-marketing useless services!

@ErikJonker “AI is for a large part opensource” means nothing. Which AI? Which tools? Which models?

Llama 2, Bard, Claude 2, GPT-4 are not open source at all.

It’s time to be lucid: this type of tools don’t help users, kill the planet and are based on stolen materials only to make some companies earn more money. That’s all.

@pylapp ... we can't enforce that this technology can and will not be used, that's a fantasy. A lot is closed source but also a part is opensource, everybody can implement and use it on their own.

#OpenSource #FLOSS #Crypto #Cryptocurrencies #Bitcoin: "The P2P Rights Fund aims to support various legal efforts, including subsidizing defense counsel, sponsoring amicus briefs in pivotal cases, and financing affirmative impact litigation to set favorable legal precedents. Additionally, the fund plans to offer free or subsidized regulatory advice to developers working on non-custodial Bitcoin tools.

The initiative is in direct response to recent legal actions that have raised concerns within the Bitcoin community. Developers of non-custodial tools, such as hardware wallet creators and transaction node operators, are increasingly being treated as financial institutions, which is seen as a fundamental misunderstanding of the technology by the government."

Time, use and practice are key to switching OSes, platforms and apps: you get comfortable with what you use. A good start to moving away from Microsoft Windows might be to install Libre Office on Windows, and start learning to use that for your daily word processing, presentations and spreadsheets. Take some steps with open source software before you even have to tackle a new operating system.

Does anyone know a #FLOSS and perhaps self-hostable music scrobbler? Something similar to last.fm ?

I do not want to post every music I listen to here on my mastodon account, but it would nice to be able to share what I'm listening to with friends and family.

I'm looking at @moodeaudio to replace my system with, and there's two questions I can't quite find the answers to:

  1. Does it support rebroadcasting a line-in audio source for multi-room? That'd be enough to get my TV audio to the other rooms.

  2. I have a fairly powerful NAS I can run the "main" instance on and would just need the actual RPis as audio relays. Is that topology somehow supported?

larsmb,
@larsmb@mastodon.online avatar

@fl0_id Thanks, but that doesn't address the gap ripping out will leave - which is the actual speakers (ideally with line-in)/multi-room for the most part.

larsmb,
@larsmb@mastodon.online avatar

Depending on how big the gap is, I'm willing to contribute money as part of a crowdfunding effort to build up one of the alternatives to replace with, possibly including someone building a hardware business to sell some neat audio relay boxes (with or without an AMP, I guess).

I am very annoyed by Sonos.

larsmb, to random
@larsmb@mastodon.online avatar

I really don't get #Sonos. Instead of alienating their (nerdier) customers, imagine they had an official local extension API:
A lot of #FLOSS developers would recommend them to everyone (b/c most of us can't be bothered to deal with sleek hardware or patented shite like Dolby/HDMI), and they could just leave the local library handling (which they obvs hate) to someone else.

That'd be a marketing boost and give them a platform lock-in.

Instead, they're doing whatever it is they're aiming for?
