My Elisp package for history in Dired was added to MELPA
repository. 🎂
I added alternative implementation of history with tab-line
mode. 🤹 This implementation work perfect, fast and able to work
under root console or any terminal. ⌘
I also solved in Dired:
selection by region selection, not by marks ●
customization of opening file in other window ●
I am going to write article about configuration of Emacs as a
file manager.
🏄
I posted request to MELPA repository for my new package for Dired
filemanger in Emacs. 🐾💜😊
Emacs has is very advanced filemanager (Dired) it is like
MidnightCommander and FarManager, but much better, because it
is customizable as beyond imagination.
Even Vim don't have modern fast navigation, that is why my
package is awesome. 😈
Now I don't need OS Environment, all I need is Emacs, console
and browser. File manager now is in Emacs. ⛅
Thunar was very good, but too simple. ☄️
Maybe my package will became quickly very popular. 💅
Shoutout to a great foss app I used for the first time today: Parabolic! It is a beautiful and simple video downloader for youtube developed for linux with the gnome desktop in mind. Used it to download my lectures and while it's interface is clean and minimalistic it is actually quite powerful, giving me all the options I need to bulk download videos!
Also shoutout to the GNOME Files bulk renaming UI! I wanted multiple file names to start with the same text so I just selected them all and hit F2, not really expecting anything to happen. You can imagine my surprise, when a pretty powerful and easy to use dialogue popped up and just allowed me to do exactly what I wanted. The Gnome apps are really coming along greatly!
100% switched to #lf now as this is not only fast but so so configurable. It does take some getting used to though but once you've browsed a few users dot files then it all starts to become clear. I'm not pushing my lf config to my git repo until I'm totally happy with them, AKA tidied them up. Sorry #RangerFM but bye bye. #FileManager
Still one of my fav file managers from the MS-DOS 6 era... the "MS-DOS-Shell". Back in the day, this was actually pretty hard to find, as it was only included on the MS-DOS 6.22 "supplemental disk".
I've been too lazy or just content enough to work with Windows Explorer until now. But I seriously need to look for an alternative. The amount of fuckery that Microsoft has done with this app in Windows 11 is just mind-boggling. None of it needed to happen. One more crash and it's gone! it should be in the next 10 minutes.
I might have a few alternatives. All of these are open source.
there is: I never used them but being open source if you end up liking one of them, you can be assured they'l have a use rperspective interest at heart.
One annoying thing I found when using #termux app on #android, is the fact that for exploring files you can use only system #files app.
The trouble is that you can access it only through #fileManager app when trying to open Android folder, and there's no option to create shortcut on home screen.
