Yesterday I learned that my son can rap and he's really fucking good. Currently he's freestyling over copyright free beats he's downloaded to his phone. We said he should be recording them but he doesn't know where to start.
I know a little about #DAWs so I'm going to set him up with #Audacity to begin with. I know nothing about microphones, though, or #recording_vocals. Blue Yeti seem good but desk based. What about wireless headsets for someone who likes to wander about while recording?
I like it cos it's very old-fashioned. Although it is a DAW, it's really reminds me of working with analogue tape / desks. I use the tape emulation and console inserts and the whole mix just glues together.
(Obviously, you can use those kind of inserts in any DAW but they feel more natural in Luna.)
If, like me, you're spending sometimes 13 - 15 hours straight in the studio, I don't think you even need to start off with fucked eyes cos the UIs will have fucked them for you after that long.
And yes, I know those are too long working hours but that's how I create. Once I have an idea, I have to chase it down while the mood is right.
This goes out to ALL of us, whatever visual acuity, who end up with massive fucking headaches after working in #DAWs and other #MusicSoftware
If you tried #AggregateAudio when Apple first rolled it out and quickly gave up on it cos it was a bag of wank, give it another go.
It actually works now, doesn't introduce mad latency and, like every good protocol, just melts into the background. So it's now trivial to connect a bazillion inputs up via Thunderbolt or USB or whatever.
