Kamek's Island

No Bowsers Here

Somewhere near Dinosaur Land is an island and Kamek's got it. (Free Real Estate?)

One of those easier mods made by Gamma V.

Some of these level titles are funny. I'm partial to Brokeblock Mountain for instance.

It's not too dazzling or in your face. There's some fitting gameplay additions here and there, and if they are significant enough you'll get the rare message block for explanatory purposes.

So, I have had a glorious moment of vindication for myself. Not only have I beaten on the , but I also got all the achievements for the game from Retroachievements.org, so the game is considered Mastered!

Honestly, the game was a really good challenge, I will definitely need to talk a little about this game on my channel, as there is a lot to talk about, and it certainly deserves a proper review in my opinion.

Despite being a movie tie-in game and a bit of a frustrating slog at times, it was actually really enjoyable and I can't put into words how happy I am with beating this game from my childhood!

I updated https://github.com/NovaSquirrel/snes-platformer-example yesterday to use https://github.com/undisbeliever/terrific-audio-driver instead of my weird fork of SNES GSS's driver.

My fork has some cool features I haven't seen in other drivers yet, though TAD is supposed to get the main one I wanted (sound effects interrupting music channels) and just generally seems better designed?

I feel like the SNES's complexity gets exaggerated a lot (and having more features is generally actually a helpful thing) though audio does seem like one aspect where the #SNES does stick out.

Most other platforms are able to just directly play audio from the same large memory you run code from, but here you have to manage swapping stuff in and out if you have more audio related data than 64 KiB.

Though what SNES GSS and TAD do seems like a pretty reasonable way to handle it for most games, where you normally just keep samples and sound effects loaded during a whole game and only swap out the music sequence data.

It's retro game of the week time once again, and once again I'm playing Pinball -- in this case, Super Pinball: Behind The Mask for the SNES.

What lurks behind the mask is... not great.

N-Force 2 - August 1992 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.

The magazine has an extra cover that wraps around to add the postcards on the back, so I've included the inside cover here as well as they look a ton nicer.

Enjoy! 😙

Another Mario World

Another Day, Another Mario

Have a vanilla Super Mario World romhack which doesn't really change things up too much other than level design. It's also a bit short and possibly easier than the original game?

The Koopalings though they behave the same have been arranged in the order of the NSMBWii game.

Recommended for newcomers that want to play more Mario World and wade their toes in the possibilities.

Estoy teniendo pensamientos bastante continuos respecto a las consolas Anbernic para jugar a juegos retro. Pero sé que luego no laa usaría demasiado y es un problema.

Got my digital copy of this week and finally downloaded it for a look. It's really cool! They've nailed the pixel art and vibe throughout, for the right group who are into the idea of a video gamey I think this would be cracking https://blackfiskpublishing.com/products/heroes-of-cerulea/
