Welcome back to the #bofuri#animedon#rewatch. Today we're on Season 1, Episode 9, "Defense and Fourth Event."
The first half of the episode focuses on the preparation for the upcoming guild war. Particular focus is placed upon Frederica dueling Sally to gain more info, which is an interesting way to have them fight but also once again shows how jank NWO is that Sally can just call out fake skills and people go "I mean, I guess that could be real."
The second shows the start of the war as Maple Tree wrecks everyone's shit, even as Flame Emperors and Holy Sword make their presence known. Plus we get the first appearance of sad wet rat Mii.
Welcome back to the #bofuri#animedon#rewatch. Today, we're on Season 1, Episode 8, "Defense and Third Event."
Even though it's in the episode title, the third event isn't really all that important. Instead, the focus is on Maple gaining two of her most valuable skills and my personal favorites: Atrocity and Machine God. While the fights themselves are not to the same standard as ones we've seen or will see, they still show off Maple's evergrowing power within the game and the ways she utilizes her skills in creative ways - as long as she doesn't mind no longer being human.

After the excitement of last episode, now would be the time to chill a little... is what I would say if a drunk bassist didn't stumble her way into the show. Kikuri Hiroi's introduction electrified the anime community and it's clear why she made an impression. She's a bombastic character with enough personality to attract attention, but she's not just sake and spirals. She provides a good contrast to Hitori while teaching her a valuable lesson: Those around you are more likely to help than harm.
Well, it's time to become more band-like... whatever that means. I kinda forgot the first half of this episode, even though it gives us the stand-out Bocchi as extrovert bit. Once we get the girls in Shimokita, the episode picks up, especially the most iconic moment from this series: Bocchi's freak-out. It's moments like this where you really start to understand how much effort the staff at CloverWorks put into this series to give the audience the perfect subjective experience of the characters.
As evident in the title, this episode revolves around characters moreso than themes, specifically Mystery Kiss and Dobu. On the MK side of things, we see that the idol business is surprisingly not all that great. Maintaining a public image, wearing multiple masks, personal and professional jealousy - all of these are just as likely to topple greatness as a bad review is. While Rui isn't seen in the episode, her presence is still felt as she becomes a "carbon gemstone", even as Shiho proves capable at keeping her own calm.
Rewatched the Babylon 5 pilot (The Gathering) lately with my wife (and the kids).
It certainly is very 1993, isn't it?
The series only got greenlit later on, so there was a production break in between. Enough time obviously for Earth Alliance hairstyles (or maybe just military regulations) to change. Which makes for an interesting if unintentional piece of realism in the series.
I've started a rewatch of #theuntamed and am noticing some stuff I didn't before. (I had NO idea what was going on the first time thru.) Lan Wangji likes Wei Wuxian more than everyone thinks. Jin Zixuan seems to actually like Jiang Yanli, but just like LWJ he can't bring himself to express his feelings. MianMian seems to be the one stirring everything up, yet WWX blames JZX instead of her (I don't think he realized she was being catty.) And Xue Yang's related to the OG yin iron guy? #cql#cdrama
I'd forgotten what a little badass #Sizhui is after all the juniors are set free from being tied up in the cave, and the corpse puppets are trying to kill everyone. #JinLing too. I would have thought more juniors would go take a stand, especially after so many juniors fought in the Sunshot Campaign, but nope. Just those two deserve rights.
Cue NHS and JC both recognizing that OZZ is gonna be an ally sect leader in a few years.
Will he be the romantic peacekeeper of his generation? He'll have to fight LSZ for the title...🤭 #cql#theuntamed#rewatch#spoilers
#JinLing is having a Very Bad Time. First all the people he likes turn out to be the people he's supposed to hate. Then his uncle tries to kill him. (No spoilers because everyone's his uncle.) Poor kid is gonna need therapy.
Why the heck did Su She start his own sect instead of joining the Jin clan if his lips are gonna be hermetically sealed to JGY's butt?
Optics, probably, but still.
This twerp is so resentful and for what. He so easily casts aside people's lives for his own gain/amusement and simultaneously is so consumed by it that he takes great effort in hiding it. Like, do you want a pity party? Because we can throw you a pity party. And avoid a whole big mess.
Watching #FatalJourney now and it's not enough that the Nie family tomb is actually in a cave big enough to house a Balrog, and the bottom room that ancestors would seal themselves up in just happens to have clues to an escape mechanism (would be good info to have), but THEN we get Battle of the Avatars for no particular reason, and on top of that, the tomb still needs to be balanced when Jin Ling later comes to be nosy and blows out part of an outer wall. #CQL#theuntamed#rewatch#spoilers

I still think coffee is better.
