The #ICC can issue for signatories countries an arrest warrant on #Netanyahu because it has jurisdiction over international crimes committed in #Palestine since 2012
BUT
If #Israel doesn't recognise the #ICC, its territory isn't included in the jurisdiction, and the crimes of Hamas where carried out there, then how can the #ICC issue a legally binding arrest warrant on Hamas leaders?
"Video shows the terrifying moments after an Israeli bombing in northern Gaza’s residential neighbourhood of Beit Lahia. Palestinians are seen running down the streets, carrying wounded and searching for other casualties. Sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital say seven people were killed and dozens wounded."
Christian Appy, professor at University of Massachusetts, arrested for standing in support of students pro-Palestine demonstrations, talks about the police brutality and the choices he had to make: "Am I willing to be arrested? Is it the right thing to do? Could it make a difference? Would there be negative consequences for my career?" Here's his analysis of Daniel Ellsberg's actions to fight the Vietnam war.
"Seven British ministers – including Rishi Sunak, David Cameron, Grant Shapps and Kemi Badenoch – must be investigated for aiding Israel"
"This support is being provided in three main ways"
The UK is providing arms to Israel
The UK military is training Israeli armed forces personnel in Britain during the genocide
The UK military is conducting spy flights over Gaza in support of Israel
"...delegates were met by around 200 protesters who denounced Labor’s complicity in the Israeli war crimes"
"Victorian Labor Premier Jacinta Allan dashed off a Twitter/X statement, declaring: “Today, protestors and intruders brought violence, homophobia and anti-Semitism to the front door of state conference. I’m disgusted"
"As hundreds of comments beneath Allan’s post noted, her claims were slanderous"
Notice how quickly the FCDO moved to cover its arse with legal bullshit after the #ICC announcement, literally months after a Tory minister let the cat out of the bag about the UK Government receiving legal advice on #IsraelWarCrimes - legal advice they've effectively denied exists.
BREAKING NEWS - Monday, May 20, 2024 7:20 AM ET
The International Criminal Court’s prosecutor requested arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and for the leaders of Hamas.
While the request must be approved by the I.C.C.’s judges, the announcement is a blow to Mr. Netanyahu and will likely fuel international criticism of Israel’s war strategy in Gaza. #Gaza#Israel#Palestine#FromTheRiverToTheSea#MiddleEast
Folks at Politico are making a valid point here:

"In 2023, the Israeli military censor barred the publication of 613 articles by media outlets in Israel,"
"Even before the war, the Israeli government had advanced a series of measures to undermine media independence. This led to Israel dropping 11 places in the 2023 annual World Press Freedom Index, followed by an additional four places in 2024 (it now sits in 101st place out of 180)."
"..a handful of Arab states, including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, began clamping down on pro-Palestine activism in their own countries"
Crackdown on protest is expected in authoritarian states. As for Palestine, "no Arab state wants to confront Israel...this has much to do with their relations with the US on which they rely for security and, in some cases, as a source of critical financial assistance"
Also, pro-Palestine seen as leftist.
"Biden is suffering huge damage to his base because of his support for genocide"
"The question that must be asked again and again is, Why is an accomplished politician taking such risks with his reelection campaign by supporting a genocide?...It's the donors."
Here's a list of the main donors and their motivation. And the money ... huge amounts of money.
