The apparent uprising via Wagner in Russia is fascinating and incredibly dangerous for NATO, the US, and the world at large.
Putin's core mistake, beyond invading Ukraine, was enabling and allowing a mercenary and known criminal organization in Wagner to have any involvement in the war that wasn't under direct command and control of the Russian military.
I doubt that the Wagner chief, Prigozhin, will ultimately topple the Russian military or Putin. I have to assume at this point that the Russian military and the Russian elite are viewing life under Prigozhin as a bleak prospect.
That said, and along the same assumption, it could very well be that Putin's days are numbered. The question is, what takes Putin's place? We know it will start with chaos.
Situations like this historically have cascading events and ramifications. I have to presume that NATO and the US are at some level of alert.
We are living in a major historical and very dangerous moment.

Mr. Prigozhin’s Wagner mercenary force has proved pivotal to the Russian war effort in Ukraine, but in recent months, he repeatedly chastised Russia’s top brass for alleged corruption and indifference to regular soldiers’ lives. On Friday night, he called for retaliation against the Russian Defense Ministry after he accused the military of attacking his forces. They responded by ordering his arrest.
