@ogili Better than that, I think! Especially as on Saturday I revisited the Jimmy Cauty 'Aftermath Dislocation Principle' installation that I missed out on last Sunday. #ListeningClub
Hey there - this Sunday at 20:00 GMT we're having our annual #festivevortex, for which we ask you (mhm, you!) to suggest / submit one or two of your favourite new tunes of 2023, then @kleptones will whip them up into a delicious mix for playback on the night.
The dropbox for submissions is here: https://saucer.app.box.com/f/7074b68eaebf4ec386bf58f8153d6d85
Get your submissions in by 12noon GMT on Sunday for inclusion! No late passes! #listeningclub
#listeningclub went to see #Suede play on Friday, they were suprisingly good, and I think better than when I last saw 'em, which was, err, supporting The Fall in '92. Took a photo which looked like a painting, so I turned it into a #digitalpainting
#ListeningClub I know who this, but I've not heard this. I really liked Sledgehammer as a teen, and whilst I feel being a bit, err, tired and hungry, would improve this record (and I haven't even had a cigarette, let alone anything else since sept), I'm digging this.
@eastvanhalen@ogili#ListeningClub Got lots of feels for Sledgehammer as it was released just before I went abroad for a gap year. Bought the album on cassette from a guy who was running some kind of bootleg ring from his record shop while I was living in Jerusalem.
@soundclamp@ogili For me it was listening to Security on repeat on a 1980s boom box (grad present!) that would move the head when it got to the end of a side, so it effectively flipped the tape, and my depressed teenage self could watch the lights flicker and hear the album play over and over without ever getting out of bed #listeningclub
@eastvanhalen Ah. Yeah. I won't mention how old I was at the time, but it was quite a few years before I bought this hifi (when I went to university), and this weekend I celebrated a birthday ending in 0. 🙂 #ListeningClub
@saucer@corin_ja@ogili@eastvanhalen#ListeningClub In the 80s whenever someone would complain about Sting his fans would descend with a lot of, you’re just jealous and whatnot, but then Stewart Copeland was like, nope, he’s an asshole and all those fans melted into dust haha.
@soundclamp As with quite a few artists who go on to self-involved solo careers, the stuff where they have to collaborate with others is often better. #ListeningClub
