Serious question: How do #LFC and wider #MastodonFC / #EPL fans here on Mastodon feel about Klopp's call for a replay?
Seems like a PR own goal to me as a Spurs fan. He seems to be coming in for quite a bit of stick and ridicule from the wider footballing world.
I'm loving Chris Cowlin's response. And Jan Vertonghen shows what a legend he is. Trent Alexander-Arnold's "have to move forward and put it behind us" comment is mature, too.
According to this analysis of VAR decisions for the 22/23 season, Liverpool were the joint second beneficiaries of VAR decisions, while City were bottom.
So why do #LFC fans believe there is a conspiracy against them? Where does that belief stem from?
Joyful, fluid and free flowing football from the #redmen. A performance of such beauty that the video of the match wins the #turnerprize and is displayed in the #Louvre next to the #MonaLisa
A lot has been posted about how all of #nunez's assists have been for #salah over the last day or so. But in yesterday's game I noticed how hard Salah worked to try and assist Nunez - unfortunately to no avail. I'm gonna keep an eye on this to see if it's just my bias or a real thing
First, I loathe the club Man City (i.e. the petrostate human-rights violation sportswatching operation) but I can't help but admire the actual team. They play proper football, and do it really well. Yet Liverpool bossed them comprehensively in the end.
And I'm not sure what to think of Endo yet, except to say I believe he's still adapting to the pace of the EPL relative to the Bundesliga.
My eyes see his quality, his turns on receiving a pass into open and promising space. He occasionally links a quick vertical ball to a promising position before the defense can settle.
But he seems late to challenges and isn't winning his duels (yesterday 1/9 ground duels, 2/5 aerial). That tells me he's likely still adapting to the speed of the EPL. #LFC
I love Roy Hodgson, but has he not met Jordan Ayew? The man is a world class master in the dark arts of shithousery. He didn't just happen to find himself there unable to move and innocently being targeted by the sinister Virgil Van Dijk. #LFC
If #LFC fans are feeling hard done by this early in the season when still all to play for, imagine how it feels to be done over in a Champions League final.
It hurts. Take it on the chin. Move on. Klopp's team is good enough to ride it. He has a history of resilience in the face of (unjustified) poor results.
FWIW I sincerely think the reds and Diaz's disallowed goal spoiled the game.
But those rash challenges are a bit of a theme against Spurs.
Some fans also did blow Van Dijk's comment out of proportion. I don't see anything wrong or off about his comment at all. As Klopp said, "there is no reason to worry, the players are happy to be here". #lfc
I get all my football opinions from newspapers and their websites. Manchester City are awesome and clearly just parading towards the league title. There's no way #LFC can possible pull back the defecit of minus-five points, plus City have also scored minus-two more goals than Liverpool and conceded minus-two less.
And because I am that petty, to follow Konate’s second yellow by ignoring Gabriel hauling Nunez to the ground and then booking Nunez for dissent is peak Anthony Taylor. He played no real role in the outcome, but I cannot fathom how he keeps getting assigned these games. He lacks any sort of consistency even within a 5 min span.
He’s on my Mount Rushmore of hated officials, alongside Paul Tierney & David Coote. I haven’t decided on a fourth yet. No others seem as malevolent/incompetent. #LFC
Who knows, maybe it's a good day for Thomas Frank to show what he's made of. I won't complain if he finds a way to take a couple of points away from Guardiola.
