Reliance on Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei could end up costing Germany's state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn upwards of €400 million if a rip-and-replace order is issued.
According to internal documents, Deutsche Bahn, which had invested heavily in Chinese network equipment going back to 2015, faces delays in upgrade plans of five to six years should the government move forward with a ban.

Das was du schreibst ist genau das was Ich Aussagen will. Kritische Infrastruktur sollte NIEMALS von einer dritten Partei abhängig sein (siehe Russland) sei es die USA oder China.
Mein Punkt ist das wir alle gleich und ohne Vorurteile behandeln. Was sich der US Geheimdienst von solchen Aktionen erhofft ist das wir uns mehr von ihren Firmen und ihrer Kontrolle abhängig machen, der richtige Weg ist es aber sowohl chinesische als auch amerikanische Produkte bei bewiesener Spionage zu verbannen und an sich keine kritische Infrastruktur von einen der beiden Länder abhängig zu machen.
Erneut, Ich finde es interessant das der Fakt, dass Ich probiere diese Dialektik aufzubringen immer von Leuten wie dir angesehen wird als würde man irgendein Land verteidigen. Es scheint mir als könnten viele Menschen nicht mehr kritisch denken oder lesen...

Die EU fordert bereits seit einiger Zeit einen besseren Schutz der 5G-Mobilfunknetze. Vodafone warnt nun davor, dass ein übereilter Verzicht auf chinesische Mobilfunktechnologie die Netze langfristig schädigen könnte.
@tagesschau Wenn Huawei und andere chinesische Anbieter ihren kompletten Source Code für Vodafone und Behörde freigeben (inkl. Zugriff auf die Geräte auf Einhaltung), dann sehe ich kein Problem der Installation.
I have a tablet, a #Huawei from the embargo time which means a forked #Android 10 without Google. I'm quite happy using it with mostly open source apps installed via @fdroid : Tusky, Fennec, @k9mail, VLC... Unfortunately, the last update is from July 2022. Now the screen is broken, yet the tablet is still usable. Now I am unsure whether to pay 35€ for a new screen or just use it as long as the screen still works. I cannot completely rule out that for example videos via #mastodon can be a risk 1/
@heiseonline Huawei hatte die besten Android Smartphones - insbesondere auch, was die Kameras betraf. Ich finde es schon bedenklich, dass Huawei durch Sanktionen derart abgestraft wurde. Die Sanktionen waren nicht ehrlich, denn bei US Unternehmen wurden im Gegensatz zu Huawei auch schon absichtliche Backdoors gefunden. Außerdem hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die USA ihre technische Vormachtstellung in Gefahr sahen und aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen China angreifen.
@anderspuck I know some people care for screens and all that, but I don't either. To me, the freedom from Apple's ecosystem is worth the price. And if the laptop can help me do what I needed to do, that is good enough.
Apple, despite its high quality, always prevented me from doing what I wanted to do because if its restrictions on space etc.
Also, in Asia, and with Asian currencies, Apple is priced way out of reach for most people. An iPhone is literally 5 months' pay for some people
To continue my thoughts on why I left the #Apple ecosystem. It's the same reason why I left #Twitter#Facebook for #Mastodon. Why I embraced #IndieWeb and now blog the POSSE/PESOS way.
I realised that Apple products, shiny and high quality as they are, was trapping me in their ecosystem. I hated having to upgrade just because they deemed my device "too old". I hate having to buy a new thingamajic when my old dongle worked just fine - just because Apple removed a port. 1/3
Aside: Brands 1–14 listed above are available here in the #Philippines, even though some of those were made exclusively for certain countries and regions (and you wouldn't even see the Philippines mentioned in news and wikis).
Many of these brands already overtook #Apple, #Motorola, #Nokia, and even #Samsung in many countries, as far as sales are concerned.
So the question is:
If the accusations and assumptions against these companies are true, where do we draw the line?
@youronlyone@youronlyone whatever the brand, some electronics components are manufactured in China only. I do pay attention to what I'm buying and I try to limit Chinese products as much as possible, but let's face it, boycotting them entirely is impossible today
@s1m0n4@youronlyone@youronlyone ROG Phones are assembled in China, even the products aren't Chinese origin. Most of Samsung phones are assembled in Vietnam.
