Almost half of the #Friday has gone by, so I believe this is the right time to start thinking about the #weekend, and what better way of doing so than talking about the videogames you'll play during the next days?
Not playing the game myself (and haven't played the first one either), but I keep running into #Helldivers2 videos lately, and it's fascinating to see how the content creators AND the comments seem to be fully roleplaying the "democracy ! liber-tea !" discourse of the human faction of the game. While being (I think ? mostly ?) aware of the propaganda behind it.
I don't see a lot of games where that kind of immersion happens out of game, especially fandom-wide.
One of my favourite things about #HellDivers2 is when you stand at the bridge of your Super Destroyer, you see other players’ Destroyers too, those at the same planet as you, and you get to see them dropping stuff down to their squads in real time.
For anyone who's enjoying #HELLDIVERS2 but don't have anyone to play with like me, I quickly setup a little social network for divers to meet and form groups :cat_hug_triangle:
It's not federated since we don't want to spam the fedi with the game stuff :blobcatgiggle:
Helldivers 2 is the perfect model for a live-service game. The progression is brisk -- you can unlock multiple rewards after almost every session -- the cosmetics and premium battle passes can be earned quickly just by playing, and it definitely doesn't hurt that the game itself is an absolute blast.
If you haven't checked it out, #Helldivers2 is basically a 3rd person Left 4 Dead meets Halo with a Starship Troopers vibe.
#Helldivers, are you missing the feeling of crushing steel beneath your feet? Try your hand at clearing bug holes! With a simple loadout you can increase your nest-clearing speed tenfold!
If you miss the thrill of being surrounded, give this a go!
Last night I got back to #Helldivers2 and I must admit that the latest patch isn't working for me.
Even at the "Challenging" level the environmental hazards are just an instantaneous and often unavoidable death.
Feeling more like a "Ok lol you dead, kk thx bye" than a nice addition to the depth of the game.
Yes, the game is hard and it will getting harder, but this new addition is just...frustrating.
Ok, #Helldivers2 is pretty fun! There's the usual launch hick ups with disconnects and crashing, but the game play is solid. Definitely adding this to my "play often" list.
I genuinely don't know what #Helldivers2 is about because the developers just don't care to explain at all. Is this a good game? No idea, the good reviews are filled with memes and no information. Help.
Just played #Helldivers2 for the first time in a couple of weeks, and I think we just had our first true encounter with griefers...one of them kept calling in air strikes everywhere we had to be at, and the other shot us any time we had samples, including right outside of the extraction point right as we were getting on ship.
We've been pretty lucky in helldivers so far, actually met a few people we sent friend requests to after because we got along great. I don't understand what enjoyment griefers get from making the game suck for others. Guess I'm not fked up enough 🙃
I so far have been really enjoying Helldivers 2 and definitely see myself continuing to play it for the foreseeable future. It also plays extremely well on Linux with no issues. Just install from steam and Play. I did use Proton-GE as I tend to have better performance with games using it but that was it.
I'm so glad Gaming on Linux has become so easy that now I can play games with most of my friends without issues.
