I'm watching a documentary about #Enron. I'm one of those folks who was clueless. I was trying to stay alive vs paying attention to corp America. But now that I'm learning the story, I'm making parallels between Enron's business practices & #Trump's.The dollar amts may be different, but the fraud is similar. Like Enron, Trump uses shadow companies to hide debt in order to obtain more favorable borrowing terms. Like Enron, Trump artificially inflated values to appear more wealthy #Fraud is fraud
#TheGrifters came out after a (not "the) #SavingsAndLoan (manufactured) crisis and used that indirectly in its depiction of greed and the "conned".
It's relevant in this world of #BernieMadoff, #crypto and #NFT's, #Enron, #StockMarkets, #TooBigToFail, all the other cons and con artists we know and acknowledge as such, and all those very many others that are still considered legitimate.
As history proves, the bigger the con, the more people believe and want to get taken...
@andrew@law it’s interesting, my YouTube just decided that I watch a #pbs#frontline episode from 2004 about KPMG doing super super illegal tax things. As “auditors.”
They’re just another Arthur A Anderson and life is just one big #enron anymore.
