It has been around since the 90s, from Japanese anime to Western live-action TV series. How did it start? Who first used it? I have no idea. Maybe it started from DC or Marvel comics, or even earlier than that. Nonetheless, it was the simplest idea (I think) to answer the question: “How can we detect if someone is from a different world/reality?” And it actually works. And maybe, just maybe, if alternate realities do exist, we do vibrate in different frequencies. These are some of the fictional works that I remember (or I'm misremembering) which used this ‘theory’.
