It's weird hearing the ambulance sirens on the cricket commentary and in real-time from my desk.
I was given out caught behind at Stormont one night as an ambulance was passing. The bloody umpire gave me out when there was no way he could have heard a thin nick over the noise of the siren about 80m away on the road. I didn’t hit it!
My favourite bowling end was from the far end in this video feed. Bowling up the very slight hill from the City End. It was my favourite place to bowl from all the grounds I played on. Home ground. ☺️
Things I never thought I'd hear on cricket commentary:
“A change of bowling. Forbes coming on at the Strathearn end.”
If you’re from East Belfast, you'll understand ☺️
If you're not (highly likely), I’ll inform you that Strathearn is a girls’ grammar school in the Belmont area of East Belfast. https://www.strathearn.org.uk
When I was first thinking about joining a cricket club in my teens I went to a net practice session at CIYMS in Belmont. In the end I joined Civil Service at Stormont. As it was within walking distance of my house.
I recall hitting one of the CIYMS batters on the hand at the practice. He suspected a broken finger 😬
Three huge sports events tomorrow morning (Eastern time) that I hope I will catch:
7:45 am: 🏎️ F1 - Monaco Grand Prix. Verstappen is not in pole for this one, so maybe someone else has a chance this time? (Prediction: no)
10:00 am: 🏏 IPL Final - Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad. A rock-solid KKR vs. an explosive SRH team.
12:45 pm: 🏎️ Indy 500. I never get to watch this. Maybe I'll finally get to see it this year?
Apparently the games from the Cricket T20 World Cup from the Caribbean and the USA will be broadcast on the ICC website in Europe (and maybe elsewhere).
Not available in the UK and Ireland as Sky Sports have the rights and will be streaming them on NowTV.
