A group of anarchists in North Carolina that run a bookstore took in thousands of books banned in Florida, and are now distributing them to anyone who wants them. Lots of them right back to Florida 😂

The big #strikes this summer make this #LaborDay more meaningful than ever. Let's remember the men and women who paved the way for #WorkersRights in the U.S.
My picture book, BRAVE GIRL: Clara and the Shirtwaist Makers' Strike of 1909 is cited here.
My amazing mother-in-law has created a beautiful story, Flutter’s Tale, about the animals that live outside her home. Especially, Flutter the #hummingbird. It even makes reference to the visits of her #grandchildren over the years.
The children’s book is illustrated with stunning #watercolor paintings Gillian created herself. I’m so proud of her creation.
I've written before that when the (wood) thrush arrives in late spring it marks an important time for me. Last week I had a pretty amazing moment when it seemed like a thrush was literally changing the season from spring to summer. I wrote about it, in verse and a made-up mythology, here:
I approached the myth-making as if I were telling a story about why the thrush sings to my child. It's my first attempt to do anything like that, and while I'm nervous about sharing it I do quite like the story. I would (if I could find an illustrator!) kind of like to make it a children's book.
