yesterday @sustainrelease mentioned césaria évora's 'club sodade' album. i hadn't listened in a while so i gave it a spin, and immediately remembered i'd seen her live soon after sodade came out. it's a long time ago and i don't remember details, but the image of a barefoot singer spinning around on a carpet, lit cigarette in hand, is one that stays with you #cesariaevora
I remember having missed the opportunity of seeing her live in town. I'm really sorry about it. (I was relatively young, and the tickets costly for me at that time). I console myself by watching the recording of her concert at the #ZenithTheatre in #Paris once in a while.
I love how she sits down, seemingly falling asleep, but getting up right on time to perform her vocals. What a wonderful singer! 👍
