On ep 2 of #InBlossom. Since I'm watching super heavy dramas - Sunrise on the River & Joy of Life, this is a nice "light" watch to add to my current roster.
But Liu Xueyi is legit hard carrying the show. Not only is he a good actor, he has a magnetic presence that I can't quite explain. There was one shot of him appearing at the door & I went 🤤
Sigh, the lead actress though, is uninspiring.
my dad is looking for more historical cdramas to watch, and I told him I'd see if I could find some recs for him.
he's looking for cdramas that are available to watch free online (eg on viki), he prefers historicals, he enjoys some fighting, and previous shows he's enjoyed include The Untamed, Nirvana in Fire, Imperial Coroner, and Who Rules the World.
For those of you who watch more tv than me, what would you suggest?
The Young Warriors (Song Dynasty)
Shaolin Wendao (Ming Dynasty)
The Longest Day in Chang'an (Tang Dynasty)
Three Kingdoms/The King's War (Qin Dynasty)
Legend of Chu and Han (Three Kingdoms/Qin)
Arrows on a Bowstring (Sino-Japanese War II)
Battle of Changsha (Sino-Japanese War II)
The Disguiser (Sino-Japanese War II / this has some of the same NiF actors)
Notable: Hu Ge, Peter Ho, Chen Long, Jin Dong, Eddie Peng, Zhou Yi Wei
@AnnaAnthro Will definitely watch this soon when all the episodes air, it's a perfect drama for me.
#ZhouYiWei is one of my favorite actors; he always owns the screen. He's great in everything, especially The Longest Day in Chang'an, Shaolin Wendao, Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy, The Rebel Princess.
And I love any detective mystery #Cdrama#CMovie based on Di Renjie. 👍
Ya know, I thought the deluge of #Cdramas in February was bad. March takes the cake. I cant keep up 🤣
I just completed Judge Dee's Mystery (great drama!) and am now enjoying the guilty pleasure that is Yong'an Dream. But these are Feb dramas. Meanwhile, various platforms announced about >12 dramas that will land or have landed, including the very eagerly awaited Legend of Shen Li. I probably will watch that but the rest I hope will grant me an extra month in this year to catch up 🤣
After all the smart-ness in #CaptivatingTheKing, I needed a #kdrama that didn't require any thinking. #ALoveSoBeautiful has the emotional and mental depth of an after-school special, and 20 minute episodes! Winning.
Except the ML is a total JERK to the FL. And the 2ML is thoughtful, supportive, considerate, kind, emotionally aware... exasperated sigh
It is a Korean remake of a #cdrama and ... I can tell?
Draw the Line gives you a fascinating look into the Chinese justice system, and also into the lives and society of Chinese people. If you're interested in this, give this #CDrama a try.
Of all countries I expect to produce hopeful fiction about the #environment, China was not the top of the list. But I was really intrigued after reading a news article about it & decided to give Sunrise on the River a try.
I thought it would be a dry drama but there is a dead body, fishy beurocrats, a possible conspiracy and a mysterious environmental mystery. Another thing that surprised me is the subs are pretty decent. Worth a watch! Its on Youtube.

My dad loved old Chinese tales and used to tell me the stories. One of the ones I remember best is The Eight Immortals. Someone on Youtube described them as the "OG Chinese Avengers" and I was like, this is a perfect description of them. And each character is so iconic.
And I must've watched this 1985 version cos I remember the song so much!
Dream of Splendor is a historical romance drama that I absolutely adore. I love how it features a mature relationship between a beautiful couple, and that it also highlights the food and tea culture, music and art of the Song dynasty.
We're starting Nirvana in Fire watch party this Sunday (March 3rd) with episodes 1 and 2!

I have been struggling to find a drama that I want to watch 🌸 So I've decided to watch "One and Only" with Bai Lu and Ren Jialun. I didn't watch this drama when it came it, because I'm not that great a fan of him, but there's been so much talk about this drama that I'm giving it a go ...
Hehe someone posted English subtitles for Wong Kar Wai's Blossoms Shanghai. They are actually quite good even if it is machine-generated. The thing is, I wanted to watch it in Shanghainese, so could not rely on my Mandarin skills to understand the drama so it's much appreciated!
That said, the delay in international release is only encouraging piracy. Wished they had released it with English subtitles asap instead of waiting for some magical day...
Have been watching "White Cat Legend" 🌸 with Ding Yuxi but will drop it now. I have made it to episode 12 and I really like his portrayal of the cat detective. However, I'm not loving the slapstick nature of the other detectives in the bureau.
The mysteries don't quite drive the plot forward enough for me to put up with their silliness + Li Bing's own story is drowning in the nonsense that is going on around him. So sadly, I'm dropping it. I wanted to like it!
